We loaded up the camper and took a last minute camping trip up the canyon this weekend! Chris and Danielle bought a new (to them) camp trailer and were really eager to try it out. Of course we were more than happy for an excuse to get our little fam up the canyon!
We headed up early afternoon on Saturday. We got there about the same time Christ and Danielle did. After the guys got the trailers set up and unloaded they, and Waylon, headed back down into town to do a little work on Nana's car. Danielle and I and the kids stayed behind and had a good time visiting and playing. We hung out in their trailer the entire time. Little Tyke was mesmerized by the lights hanging on the wall and for the first time pulled himself up against the couch to reach out and get them!
The boys got back in good time and then it was time to relax and enjoy! It was a little bit chilly but not too bad. I had Tyke bundled up to the point he was not happy with me. We started a fire and sat around chatting while Chris BBQ'd some hot dogs and bratwursts for us. It was a quick, easy meal and hit the spot. Tyke took a good long nap in his stroller and look just cozy as can be. He made a few of us a little jealous.
As the night wore on Chad and I decided to dutch oven some peach cobbler. Waylon and Autumn went to bed early and missed out it. Tyke just sat in his stroller and watched the flames of the fire. Eventually it got to be too chilly and he and I called it a night. He was fussy and miserable from teething. And bad mommy, as I was unzipping his jacket to get him ready for bed I unknowingly ran the zipper over his skin. He scrame so loud and I couldn't figure out what was wrong until I saw a little bit of blood on his chest. I felt SO bad! He eventually calmed down and let me love him better but it was short lived. Chad joined us not too long after we went in because I couldn't calm Tyke down. After feeding him, getting him in his jammies and giving him a dose of Tylenol he fell to sleep. Unfortunately he didn't sleep through the night and we had a rough one.
Sunday morning we got up and got breakfast going. We hadn't planned on sharing a meal but it worked out that way and it perfect! We had pancakes, eggs, hash browns and bacon, sausage and ham steak. Everything was tasty. After cleaning up we spent the rest of the afternoon lounging and visiting. Tyke had a rough day again. To add to his misery I gave him an pear/spinach food pouch and he broke out in a huge rash on his cheeks and under his chin. He broke out in a rash the last time we gave him food with spinach in it so I think it may be safe to say he's allergic to the green stuff! His poor cheeks almost looked like they could blister. They were red and raw and dry looking. I tried to keep lotion on them but I think it stung to do so because he did not like it, even more so than normal!
Tyke was fussy most of the morning. We tried our hardest to keep Tylenol or Ambesol in his system so he wouldn't be in any pain. A few things that calmed him down were: playing in the dirt (I had anxiety over this, strange, I know!), playing in the creek thanks to his Daddy, and playing with the wheel to his stroller. He was well entertained spinning it around and around with his busy little fingers.
We eventually loaded up camp and went our separate ways. It was a fun little over night trip but was over all too fast for us!
