Sleeping Baby
I think it's safe to say our Tyke-man is enjoying his space in his "new" bed. I had to laugh this morning at his different positions. At bed time I layed him in bed, length wise, all bundled up burrito style. At 3 a.m. we got up for feeding and he had turned 90 degrees from his start point. I again bundled him up and layed him the length of the bed. At 6 a.m. I woke up to him grunting and tooting in his sleep and found that he had somewhat undone his burrito wrapped blanket and had managed to get one hand out of his jammies. An hour later he was still being noisy in his sleep and I found him completely out of his blanket. He makes me smile =)

Growing
Our little guy has outgrown his bassinet attachment to the pack and play. We decided it was probably time to take it out and let him sleep in a bigger area. I was a little sad about it. I'm sad a lot about how fast Mr. Tyke is growing. It's just not fair! I'm happy that he's healthy and growing but geez, could things slow down just a little bit please? Needless to say, Tyke slept a lot better in his "new" bed.
He's a wiggle worm not being confined to the bassinet. I woke up the next morning to find him turned almost 90 degrees from his start point.

Check Up
Back in December, when I was 34 weeks pregnant and caught the flu, Dr. Rosenbeck ordered an ultrasound and for me to monitored just to make sure everything was fine with baby. A few days later he called to tell me of a concern he had with our baby on the ultrasound. The ultrasound had shown that Tyke's left kidney was enlarged/full. Usually no big deal but he suggested we get an ultrasound done on our baby when he was about a month old to make sure everything is ok. Well, Tyke turned a month old on Saturday (crazy!) and Chad and I debated on whether or not to take him to the doctor. Afterall, this kid has no problem at all peeing and pooping and according to internet research an enlarged/full kidney causes problems in that area.
Chad had his own doctors appointment the other day with Rosenbeck and questioned him whether we should really follow up on the ultrasound or not. Rosenbeck looked up my records and said that the kidney deal seemed significant enough we should get the ultrasound done. I called up to Tyke's pediatrician today and was able to get him right in (didn't expect that). Tyke and I picked Chad up from work around 11:30 and headed for the doctors.
Our little guy got checked over good and is super healthy and growing really well. He weighed in at 9 pounds 14 ounces and measured 23 1/2 inches long!!! Dr. Fullmer looked over my notes from the 34 week ultrasound and wrote us out an order to get Tyke an ultrasound on his kidneys done. We will have it done when he is 6 weeks old, which happens to be next week.
Dr. Fullmer had a few other concerns about our little guy that we discussed. Tyke's hematomas are all but gone. They're not gushy anymore and have left hard little "ridges" in their place. The doctor said they're a bit bigger than what he's used to seeing so as a precaution he is going to be contacting a surgeon up at Primary Children's Hospital to get a second opinion on whether or not we need to do anything about them or not. Also, our little Tyke's belly button sticks out a little. Dr. Fullmer played with it for a minute and then informed us that he has what they call an "umbilical hernia." No big deal there but we will continue to watch it for the next 2-3 years to make sure it heals.
So next week we'll be playing at Nephi clinic getting his ultrasound done and then wait for the results. Hopefully everything is ok and we won't have to worry about these 3 issues anymore.

Bath Time
Mr. Tyke has finally decided that bath time isn't so bad after all.
His first week home it was sponge baths for him because of his umbilical cord. He'd scream until he was purple in the face. I can't say that I blame him. Once his umbilical cord fell off and we could actually stick him in the tub he did a lot better but still cried a lot.
Real bath time lasted about a week and then he got circumcised at his 2 week check up. That led to another 2 weeks of sponge baths and screaming from our little guy. Now that we're home free and he can enjoy his bath time again he's a happy camper and so are we.
He's so calm while bathing but he gives me the most concerned looks like he's still not sure about this. His little belly is getting big which makes him grunt pretty hard when I lean him forward to wash his back side. It's pretty darn cute!
The transition from tub to towel is pretty traumatic for him. He HATES being naked! We have to move quick to get him in his towel and bundled up. As soon as he calms down I clean his ears and nose (HATES IT!) and then I lotion him down (SUPER HATES IT!). It's the worst part of his whole day! =) He's getting better at it all though, especially if his daddy is there holding his hand for moral support. I love my boys!

1 Month Old
I can't believe our little guy is one month old today! It seriously blows my mind how 9 months took so long to get him here and one month with Tyke is already gone. It makes me cry if I really think about it.
We love our little man so very much! He is the highlight of our days. Every little thing he does is so dang cute and melts our hearts.
Tyke has changed so much in the last 4+ weeks. His little cheeks are getting chubby, he's got a cute little double chin, his belly is getting round (he can hardly breath because of it when I lean him forward in the tub at bath time). He has started to really look at Chad and I like he understands what we're saying. He'll turn his head to us when we talk to him and sometimes, but still not often enough, he even gives us little smiles that just makes our day! Especially when he wrinkles his cute little nose as he does it.
Tyke LOVES his daddy! There definitely comes a few times in the day that he's had enough of me and the only thing that will calm him down is being in his daddy's arm. I love that Chad and Tyke have staring contests daily. They also go for daily walks out to get the mail. Tyke seems to really like being outside even though it's still a bit cold. When they come back in the house it's cuddle time. I love that Mr. Tyke knows right where he's comfy on Chad's chest. If Chad doesn't get him positioned just right Tyke will wiggle and grunt and squirm until he's where he wants to be and that's always tucked right up under Chad's chin. Tyke will grasp Chad's collar and lay there until they're both snoozing. It's my favorite thing to watch!
We've just started to do tummy time with Tyke on the floor (are we bad or what? He gets plenty of tummy time on Chad's chest though) and he does really, really well. It probably takes him a good 3 or 4 minutes to start getting mad. Tyke loves his little vibrating chair. He sleeps really well in it, and we use it every night at the dinner table so he can join in on the dinner conversations. Bath time has gotten better with him. No more screaming his head off, he actually enjoys it and gets upset when I get him out. I think that's just because he hates to be naked and gets cold really fast. As soon as he's wrapped up nice and warm in his towel he calms right down. And then it's lotion time and he's mad again. He still doesn't like getting lotioned up. I tell him every time that it will make the girls go wild (who doesn't like a good smelling baby?) but he's not buying it =)
Tyke has been a mostly good little sleeper. He usually gets up around 3 am and 6 am but every 4th night it seems he struggles with sleep and just wants to be held and talked to. It's exhausting and frustrating but in a way I love it! When he does sleep our kiddo is probably the noisiest little sleeper we've ever met. He snores, grunts, coos and farts non stop. We get a lot of good laughs out of it.
All in all our little Tyke is such a good baby and we are so blessed!

Cousins
Tyke got to meet his cousin Kayson for the first time tonight! Rex and Tristan were visiting for a few days from Canada so Chad, Tyke and I headed out to Drew and Char's to visit and finally meet their handsome little guy. The boys looked at each other for a split second and did their own thing. It was so fun getting them together. I know they're going to be good buddies someday!

Our Little Valentine
Tyke is SO loved! He got visits from his Aunt Jenny, Aunt Stephanie and cousins Brooke, Callie Jo and Bowdee.
His Daddy gave him a camoflauge Lucky Bums camp chair and his mommy gave him a few outfits and the book "I Love You Through and Through."
We had a very low key evening complete with chocolates, cards and a yummy dinner of lasagna, homemade Olive Garden salad and homemade gluten free eclairs. It was a perfect Valentine's day and we especially enjoyed spoiling our little man!

Caught It!
Tyke has started to smile for us the last few days. Not just the usual gas smiles but real smiles when we talk to him and play with him. Of course it's a lot of work and the cutest thing ever and we want a picture of it but there's no way we've ever been fast enough to catch it. Until this morning that is.
Tyke and I have a good routine going. We wake up every morning around 3:30 a.m. for feeding and a bum change and then before putting him back in bed I take a picture to send to his daddy at work. They're mostly of him sleeping (If I'm lucky enough to NOT wake him up while changing his diaper). This picture he was actually awake though you would never know it. The flash was just too bright for his little eyes to stay open. My phones camera is super delayed and even worse when the flash is set to be on. Without the flash the pictures are just so so but with they're a little bit better (still not great though). As I was snapping a picture of our little guy, and thanks to the dumb delay, I caught this quick smile he gave me. I was SO excited to have finally caught the cutest smile that I've ever seen. Every time this baby boy smiles at me and his daddy it just melts my heart! We love him so much!

3 Weeks
I can't believe our little guy is 3 weeks old already! He's changing so much every day. His little hematoma's are shrinking, thank goodness. His eyes are looking like they might be blue but we're still not sure. His hair is getting long and starting to really lighten up. We just might have ourselves a blonde hair, blue eyed little man! Tyke is starting to give us little half smiles and they melt my heart. I'm pretty sure he has a few dimples but he's not ready to show them to us yet I guess. I can't wait to get a big full on smile for him. He's also starting to talk to us a little. He coos every once in a while and I love it. He has the best little facial expression. He mostly scowls at us and it's so darn cute. Tyke is a very good, alert baby. When he's awake he's awake for hours and just takes in all of his surroundings. He'll move his little eyeballs around a hundred miles an hour, checking everything out. Once in a while he'll spot the ceiling fan and be totally fixated on it. He holds his head up on his own for few seconds before getting wobbly and laying back down. He's been a good little sleeper the last few nights and it's been so nice for me. Of course I still get up a lot to check on my little guy. He's been sleeping until 3 or 4 am, gets up for about an hour for food and a diaper change, then sleeps again until 9 or 10 am. He's spoiling us and we're loving spoiling him! I could just hold and kiss on this baby boy of ours ALL...DAY...LONG! (and some days I do!). We just can't get enough of him!

Little Horns
Doesn't Tyke look so comfortable in his daddy's arms? He loves snoozing with his pa =) We got the camera out tonight to try and document those darn horns (hematoma's) he has on his head. Pictures don't do them justice but at least we have proof of his bumps. We'll be so glad when they're gone!
