Learning Fast!

Tyke has changed so much in the past two weeks developmentally that it just blows our minds.  I can't believe how many new tricks he's learned and how smart he's getting!

Sunday morning (9/22) after waking up he started clapping for the first time ever!  Chad and I nearly missed it.  We were all lying in bed thinking about getting up for the day when I noticed him clapping and got excited!  Chad had noticed too but thought nothing of it until we realized that this was the first time he had ever clapped!  We're always so proud of our little guy and the cute things he does.  He hasn't really clapped much since, and when we try to get him to he just looks at us like were crazy.

While being stuck in the living room most of the day Sunday while we worked on our projects he had to stretch and army crawl and roll around to get what he wanted.  At one point he got up on his knees all by himself and moved forward like crawling, but it was only for a second and then he went back to rolling and kicking to get to his destination.  He also somehow managed to wrap himself up in his blanket, like he was tucking himself in for bed time, and then started playing peek a boo with his Daddy.

Tyke has caught on to the game of "if I drop a toy mommy and daddy will pick it up again and again and again like my little slaves."  He's so sly about it too.  He'll take the toy and hold it over the edge of his high chair and look at us so innocently.  As soon as he drops it and we look at him he just grins and then gets serious until we pick it up again.  It's a never ending game until we quit and he gets annoyed with us.

His army crawling is getting better and better.  It's pretty funny to watch as he throws his body from side to side while stretching as hard as he can.  It almost looks like a swimming motion.  He also gets his bum pretty high up in the air.  We really need to get this recorded!

And yesterday Tyke started biting!  When I went to pick him up from Aunt Jenny's after work he started biting my shirt and pulling away until it pulled from his mouth.  He kept doing it and just smiling.  I'm not sure where he learned that trick from...  When we got home he was a sad, ornery, miserable, needy little guy.  He only wanted to be held and just cried like he was hurting.  I put my finger in his mouth and he chomped down so hard and stopped crying.  I really think (and I know I've said this a lot before) that he is finally teething!  His lower gums were so swollen last night.  We let him suck on some ice, a cold piece of peach (which he gagged over) and gave him some Tylenol.  After all of that he was happy as can be!  He also got a little bit goofy, I'm thinking because of the Tylenol.  Instead of it knocking him out it did the exact opposite and he was funny to watch.  He kept smacking his head and putting his thumb on his nose and looking around in a smiling daze.  Goofy kid!

All of these changes bring smiles to our faces.  We are super proud of our Roni and all that he does!
