Brooke and Callie Jo rode with us. Tyke squealed a high pitched squeal the entire ride up. It's a new trick he's learned and it is painful. He's not mad or anything he just squeals to squeal. The girls complained that he was breaking their ear drums haha.
The reunion was held at Evergreen Park. It was a cute fun little park for the kids (not Tyke this year...) We enjoyed a yummy lunch of Costa Vida food. Tyke got to have a squeeze pouch of apples, strawberries and bananas. He ate it right up and wanted more but I didn't have any. Usually one pouch is plenty for him. In fact the kid pretty much sucked the pouch dry! That was the first time he's done that for me. After lunch we had Ruby's Raffle, a tradition started many years ago by my Great Aunt Ruby. Everyone contributes a "prize" and we buy tickets and put them in for what we would like to win. The money then goes towards funding the next years family reunion, genius! Tyke won a wind up car that is way too little for him to play with but it makes him giggle so hard when it goes spinning across the tile floor. He also won, for Chad and I, some movie candy and popcorn. Way to go Tyke! Bruce, Grandma Cheryl's cousin, then told a few family stories and played a video he had put together of past family reunions. It was fun to watch and hear about what a great family the Holman family is! We had a great visit with the family and Tyke got to meet his Great Great Aunt Viola! She's a very special lady to me and this was the first reunion she has been able to come to in years because of her health. She looked great and we had a good little visit with her. We ended up leaving the reunion a little bit early. We did some shopping with Stephanie and Tiffany and then we left them to shop and we headed home because I was feeling a little ill.
Before getting all the way home though we made a quick stop at Toys R Us to find Tyke a big boy car seat (tear). I was so overwhelmed with all of the selections but we managed to buy a great one for our little guy. Poor Tyke didn't know what to think of his momma strapping him into car seat after car seat after car seat, he kept looking at me so confused. We finally narrowed it down to two and then chose the winner. We went with the Graco My Size 70 (it's one that Chad and I had been considering anyway and it really stuck out to me yesterday). Tyke was such a good sport that I rewarded him with a new little fire truck before we left the store. He's spoiled, I know, but it's too much fun for us to give this kid new toys!
