Fire Wood

It's that time of year again, or is it?  I'm not sure if we're early or late at getting our winter supply of firewood this year.  Chad has worked his butt off at getting us a good stack.  He bought permits for 4 cords of firewood.  So far, after tonight, we have 1 1/2 added to our stash.  Chad went by himself last Saturday morning for firewood.  Tyke and I opted to sleep in and boy did we ever!  Tonight I was able to get off work a little early so we loaded up the chainsaw and a few other things and headed up the canyon.

It was a perfect night!  It rained a little and then it was just cool canyon air the rest of the time.  Chad did all of the work while Tyke and I watched.  Tyke loved watching his Daddy work so hard!  He was amazed at the chainsaw, the tires of the truck, and the echoes of his squeals.

Early on in the night, dumb mommy, sat Tyke on the ground to check out some plants.  Little guy reached too far and I wasn't fast enough to catch him and he landed right on his head.  He cried hard and I felt so bad!  Luckily he's a tough guy and his tears didn't last long, or maybe it's a short attention span and seeing his Daddy loading wood into the truck caught him.  He has a small bump and scratch on the left side of his head =(

After two stops and three trees (equaling 1/2 cord) we worked our way down the canyon.  We saw quite a few deer, including a couple of small bucks and 2 babies.  It was a good night spent together doing something we love and we hope to teach Tyke to love it too!  We can't wait until our next trip!
