Bye Bye Binky!
Well that went easier than we ever could have hoped! We are officially binky-free at our house and have been for two weeks now! And we all survived! Luke has been such a binky baby that we feared it was going to be hell to get rid of them. He had to have one at all times and we were nervous to ever be caught without one for him because it meant a mega temper tantrum if he didn't get a binky when he wanted or needed one. He was almost like Maggie off of The Simpson's! Well a few days ago I was inspecting one of his new binks and notice he had literally chewed holes in it! I told Chad we needed to chuck it so he didn't chew it right off and swallow it and choke. Chad suggested we cut the end off and see what Luke thought about that so we did. We left about a half inch of binky and gave it to Luke. He looked at it unimpressed and a little confused then he plugged it in his mouth and continued to chew on it like nothing was wrong. That night I gave him a regular binky and he fell asleep with it but didn't use it the rest of the night. The next morning he didn't ask (aka throw a mega fit) for it so I snuck it into the diaper bag and let Grandma Cheryl know it was there in case of emergency. Luke went all day without it! So we didn't offer it at bedtime and he fell asleep fine without it and slept fine without it and viola! No more binky! It was the easiest thing ever and we're so glad it was!! It makes me a little sad to not see my "baby" running around with his binky anymore. It's another phase in his life gone already. It's bittersweet for sure but our little guy is starting to talk more and try more words already and I can't wait to hear what all he has to say! We love our big boy Lu!
