Luke is seriously such a busy body! He's into everything he shouldn't be and he thinks it's great. We're always getting after him (me, Daddy & Tyke) and he just grins and laughs at us and says, "Eeely?!" (really?!) and keeps on doing what he's doing. He's such trouble! Grandma Cheryl has said more than once that this kid looks for opportunities to be trouble and it's so true!
Luke is obsessed with the outlet covers and refuses to leave them alone. He's always pulling them out, sneakily, then showing us what he has done. Before we can get to him to slap his busy little hands he hurries to plug them back in. Sometimes he's successful and sometimes he's not and tosses them over his shoulder as he runs away from his punishment. He likes testing us I've decided. He is also obsessed with the blind cords. We do our best to keep them out of his reach but every once in a while he gets a hold of them and enjoys raising and lowering the blinds. Luke likes digging through the clean tupperware bowls in the kitchen and scattering them throughout the house. He refuses to leave them alone and we have pretty much given up on keeping them clean so we don't use them. With all of the toys in the house the tupperware bowls are his favorite and while it's adorable it drives me crazy!
Luke thinks he's so big and loves to play in the pantry. He can easily access it and get to his favorite treat: applesauce pouches. He likes to move things around in there and steal the little clips on the bags of chips.
Luke can be playing perfectly content by himself but if someone walks by with something he thinks he wants he will throw an absolute fit! He does this to Tyke a lot and so Tyke is always yelling at him, "No Lu! I had it first!" Luke will follow him around screaming and crying at the top of his lungs until Tyke gives in and gives Luke the toy. Poor Tyke and naughty Lu! I'm not kidding, this little stinker can throw the biggest, meanest, loudest fits you ever saw. Tears, snot, red face, and hurt your ears screams.
Our little guy is starting to say more and more words. I think most of them are words that only we can understand but that's OK! His new words are:
- "Nuh!" (knucks)
- "Mine"
- "Mea!" (meat)
- "Door" (and boy does he enjoy opening and closing doors of all kinds!)
- "Lie!" (light, and he is obsessed with lights! He really likes turning them on and off if we let him)
- "Nigh" (Good night)
- "Eely?!" (Really?! Oh my he is super sassy and uses this word a lot and I can't help but laugh)
Bedtime is a bit of a chore with this kiddo but I love it, mostly. He runs and jumps into his bed and snuggles up with his blanket each night when I tell him it's bedtime. I give him his bottle and he quickly drinks it then hands it over my shoulder and grunts. I take the bottle from him and tell him goodnight and he replies, "Nigh!" Then I tell him, "I love you!" and he replies by blowing me a kiss! It melts my heart!! Anytime now when I tell him I love him or tell him to tell so and so "love you" he blows a kiss. It's his way of saying I love you and I love it! He's such a sweetheart! Back to bedtime though, the kid is a die hard and I have to stand guard until he falls asleep otherwise he climbs out of his bed and pokes his brother, plays with toys, plays in the blinds, runs to the living room, etc. I literally have to sit and block him in his bed until he crashes. Sometimes it's quick but most of the time it's a good thirty to sixty minutes, ugh!
Luke is such a great eater and always willing to try new foods at least once. Even if he doesn't like a new food he'll take another bite or two just to be sure. He has tried onions and didn't like them. He loves meat of any kind, except for fish. He's not a fan of grilled cheese sandwiches anymore because we still cook them way too much for Tyke... He loves corn on the cob (cut off of the cob for him) and cottage cheese, like a lot! Luke enjoys grown up foods more than a kid should. He loves sharp cheddar cheese (smoked even!), salsa and a few other things that just baffle me.
Luke is starting to phase out of the 18 month clothing and more into the 24 month/2T. He wears a size 18/24 month pant, 24 month shorts, 18 month/24 month/2T/3T shirts and a size 8 shoe with room to grow. I have a feeling that by the time I get Luke into all of his 24 month/2T clothes it will be time to get out the 3T's. This kid is just growing up too fast for my liking!! Luke has one new tooth, his lower left canine, and three more on the way! All canines! He has been a bit of a grumpy bum and I don't blame him. His mouth looks so sore, poor guy. Luke's hair color has gone so blonde! He's our little toe head!
We love our Bubba Lu so much and can't believe how big he's getting. Time needs to slow down! My baby isn't much of a baby anymore. This parenthood thing is so bittersweet. It kills me to think that not long ago he was a new born and now he's almost two. Where does the time go?! We love you Luke and your spunky little self so very much!
