Christmas 2014

We had a great Christmas this year!  We knew it would be fun with two little boys to open presents but it was even better than we had imagined!

Christmas Eve we had our annual Kay family party at Grandma Gaye and Grandpa Wally's place.  We had a yummy dinner of turkey, ham, potatoes, veggies, rolls and treats.  There were quite a few people there and we were missing about half of the family.  Around 7 p.m. we got a surprise from a special visitor, Santa!  Tyke acted really excited until Santa got too close to him.  Tyke ran right up to him and Santa pulled him onto his lap and Tyke freaked out.  Grandma Gaye went and sat near them and tried to calm Tyke down but it was no use.  Once he got down, and about three feet away from the big guy, he was good to go!  He had fun sitting by his cousin Taten and would copy everything Taten did.

When Tyke's name was finally called he hopped right up and walked towards Santa so brave but chickened out the last minute and ran to me instead.  I picked him up, gave the camera to Aunt Stephanie, and took Tyke up to have his visit.  He tried everything he could to get away from Santa.  We tried giving him his gift hoping that would calm him down but it didn't.  He was excited for his present though.  It almost drove him crazy not being able to open it.  Santa has a strict rule that the kids can't open their gifts until everyone has theirs.

A couple of more names were called before it was Luke's turn to visit with Santa.  Chad took him up and handed him off.  Of course he's too little to throw a huge fit so he just snuggled right in and enjoyed himself.

Tyke was a little concerned for his brother but not concerned enough to get too close to Santa.

After all of the kids had had their turn with Santa, he decided to torture them even more, making them wait longer to open their gifts, by having them all gather around him, Grams and Gramps too, and making them sing Jingle Bells.

When it was time to open their gifts Tyke came and sat by me and ripped right into his.  It really surprised me how well he tore into his present because in the past he hasn't shown much interest.  He was so excited to find that he was the proud owner of a new remote control truck!  He ran right over to his Daddy to show off his new toy.  Chad opened it up and got it running and he and Tyke and Grandma Gaye had a fun time driving it back and forth.

Luke scored himself a new snowman.  He was excited too!

After the party was over and everything was cleaned up we worked our way home.  We made a quick stop at Grandma Jean's house to visit and then went home.  We got the boys ready for bed, sat cookies and milk out for Santa, and then sent the boys to bed.  Chad and I stayed up well past midnight watching "A Christmas Story."  We didn't finish the movie before calling it a night and going to bed ourselves.  I was so excited for Christmas morning that I had the hardest time falling asleep!  We all woke up around 7 a.m. and found that Santa had made a visit to our house!  Tyke was beyond excited and didn't know what to do with all of the presents and new toys!  Luke stayed awake long enough to help me open one of his presents before he decided it was nap time.  He slept through all of the fun in his car seat, we figured he would be the most safe there.  Tyke and Luke got spoiled by the big guy this year!

After opening all of our gifts we loaded up and headed to Mona to visit the grandparents.  Our first stop was at Nana's house where she made us a yummy breakfast of omelets and pancakes.  We all got spoiled by Nana!  The boys got new jammies, cars, a hooded towel, an Olaf pillow and a car mat to play with their cars on.  We got a new sound bar for our tv (yay!), towels and a new frying pan.  We spent a few hours at Nana's visiting before going to Grandma Cheryl and Grandpa Terry's house for lunch and more gifts.  Grandma and Grandpa spoiled the boys with new clothes and jammies.  Tyke got a train set, some CAT trucks and some "Cars" cars.  Luke got a bouncy chair and pillow to prop him up.  We definitely came home with a carload of goodies!

The boys with all of their loot!  They were well taken care of this year!  Merry Christmas!
