9 Months Old

Is it just me or is time flying by way too fast?  Our baby boy is 9 months old today!  We can hardly believe it!  Tyke's little personality is getting more and more fun, and way more sassy!

Our boy is mobile as can be now and snooping/exploring everything he possibly can.  We finally gave in and started baby proofing.  First thing to fix were all of the outlets.  Tyke is obsessed with them!  Even now that they are covered they're his favorite new thing to go to.  Little stinker scares me to death when he does so too.  His favorite one is located over tile floor and Tyke is constantly trying to stretch and reach as far as he can to get it.  I just know that one of these days he's going to slip on that slick floor and bang himself up good.  We are currently in the process of putting up all cleaning supplies and trying to find something to keep him safe from the rocks around the fireplace.  He likes to crawl as close as he can to those darn rocks.  Luckily there have been zero bumps and bruises so far.  He's also starting to try and pull himself up to the couch, his walker and exersaucer, and the entertainment center. He will pull up onto his knees and stretch as much as he can to get a hold of something he shouldn't have.  Last night he was playing with the volume knob on the surround sound system.  Yay for a little busy body!!!  Seriously though, we feel very blessed to have such an active, healthy, perfect little guy and we wouldn't change a single thing about him for anything in this world!!!!

Tyke has been army crawling for a while now.  He's so fast at it!  We're working with him to get him to crawl on his knees.  Last night he did it for a few minutes but I guess he prefers the army crawl.  He moves a lot faster that way and he knows it.  He's gotten really brave and ventured out past the carpeted living room area.  He sneaks down the hallway poking his head into every room.  He really wants to get into the bathrooms but I won't let him.  He sneaks around the couch and over to the french doors.  He always comes snooping into the kitchen when we're cooking.  He's adorable to watch.  You can always here him coming because his little hands slap the ground and he grunts with each movement!

Tyke is pro at sitting himself up now.  It's crazy to think that just a few short weeks ago he really struggled with it.  He's so quick in all that he does now!

Tyke love, love, LOVES to walk with anyone.  If you give him your hands he'll grab on, pull himself up and take off.  He practically runs.  He walks flat footed and quickly.  For this reason we bought him the walker.  He enjoys it.  He's still trying to get the hang of it.  He goes really good in reverse but only goes forward when he gets really excited.  He gets upset when he backs himself up against the wall or the couch and can't move anymore.  Tyke is getting good at pulling himself up, mostly when holding our hands or a pant leg of ours.  Yesterday he tried to pull himself up to the couch.  He was on his knees and stretched pretty far but wasn't quite strong enough to make it.  He's so fun to watch!

Tyke has a few new little tricks he can do now too.  He occasionally plays peek a boo with us if he has a blanket handy and feels like teasing us.  He's only done it a handful of times but it's adorable.  He also has learned how to clap his hands.  Chad taught him that and on his first successful lesson I messed it up by getting excited and throwing my hands in the air saying wahoo!  He copied me and never clapped again for quite a few days.  Every time we would say wahoo though he would toss his hands in the air.  Today Chad had him clapping good again.

Tyke is still such a good little eater.  Even more so now that he has learned how to put food into his own mouth (thanks Quade!).  We're currently easing into stage 3 foods.  Tyke hasn't been a big fan of them so far.  They're a lot more chunky than the other foods he's had.  Sometimes he gags pretty hard on things.  Also, Chad and I have always taken a taste of Tyke's foods just out of curiosity.  Stage 3 foods seem really bland and tasteless to us compared to everything else he's had.  Tyke really likes the food pouches, still.  He sucks those things dry so fast.  We can't keep them in stock in our pantry!  He gets so excited every time we pull one out for him.  The only food allergy that we know of so far is spinach.  Weird, I know, but he's broken out in a red rash all over his cheeks twice now after eating baby food with spinach in it.  That's been the only common food with both so we're staying away from that stuff.  We found some gluten free puffs to try and Tyke thinks he's so cool eating them.  We'll dump a handful out on his tray and he'll play with them, eat them and then stuff the remaining ones behind him in his seat.  I can't believe how many treats I have cleaned out from his chair.  He also really enjoys the gerber Cheetos things.  He's fun to watch when he eats those.  Little goofball!  Adult foods that Tyke has tried this past month are: mashed potatoes (LOVED them and got mad at me because he ate them all), g-free pasta in fettuccine sauce (I would break off a small piece of a penne noodle and feed it to him, he really liked it), g-free bread (he'll eat it but he gags, it's a texture thing), rice (loved it), pudding, and I'm sure there's more but I can't think right now.  Tyke will drink juice but he's not a huge fan of it.  He loves water!  He'll guzzle it down if you give it to him.  He can drink from a straw like it's no big deal.  He amazes us!

Tyke is currently wearing 9-12 month old clothes.  I have had a blast buying him new clothes but I have sadly realized I need to SLOW DOWN!  His drawers are over flowing and his closet is full.  I can't help myself!  I'm not sure if Tyke hates wearing sock or if he just likes playing with them but they are pretty much pointless to put on.  Within minutes he will have them off and in his mouth or stretching them.  When he stretches them he really works hard, grunting and everything, like he's trying to rip them in half!  It's a rare occasion when he'll leave them alone.  Shoes too!

Tyke is in size 3 diapers.  Boy is he getting to be a challenge to change too!  When you grab his ankles to lift his bum so you can place the new diaper underneath him he twists so hard that he stands on his head and just giggles.  He does this pretty much every time and most of the time we let go and let him just roll over.  However, two or three times when we've let him roll over he's peed allover.  He is a tough little guy and sometimes we can't help but to let him go.  He really puts up a fight!

Tyke still isn't sleeping through the night!  About every 3rd night he will though so that's nice.  We mostly get up around two in the morning, sometimes twice a night.  It's exhausting and sometimes I swear I sleep walk in to get him and feed him and put him back to bed.  Other than waking up in middle of the night our little guy is the sweetest sleeper I've ever seen!  When we put him to bed, as soon as his little body hits the mattress he rolls right over onto his right side, sucks on his binky for a few more seconds and then spits it out and sighs a long sigh.  What a sweetie!!!!

Tyke is obsessed with electronics, especially phones.  If he can get his hands on it it's a fight to get it back!  He's always swiping Chad's phone.  Last night he had taken it and Chad had no clue until I asked if he knew where it was.  Tyke had had it for a good twenty minutes before it got taken back.  Tyke also really, really likes the remotes.  I've finally given in and let him play with them.  I usually take out the batteries but when I don't he enjoys flipping through the channels.  It's funny that with all of the cool toys he has out to play with it's our "toys" he wants.

Tyke is a total Daddy's boy lately!  The past few weeks have been a little hard for me because he just cries when it's the two of us.  I can't fix it, I try everything but when Daddy comes home all is well and the crying stops, for Tyke.  It makes me feel bad and I have cried a lot of tears over it.  After talking with Chad, my mom, my sisters and my friends I have realized that it's nothing personal and just a phase.  It melts my heart to watch my boys play together!  They're best buds!

Speaking of fit throwing, Tyke is awesome at them!  As if the "broken hearted" cry wasn't enough, not only can he turn on/off the tears but also the snot box.  He will literally cry so hard if he wants something that when you go to pick him up he is covered in tears, slobber and snot.  And then right as you go to pick him up he'll rub his little eyes and nose smearing it everywhere and then stops and smiles.  He's a stinker!

With the bad comes the good.  Our little guy is the biggest flirt and the biggest mush there is.  He will nod his head to the left and smile and say "aaaaahhhh!"  It's adorable!  Usually if we do it he will copy but he mostly just does it on his own when he wants to be a charmer.  Tyke gives the best loves and the best wet kisses!  Chad is finally getting in on that.  Tyke would never kiss his Daddy's cheeks, probably because of his whiskers, but the past few days he's been generous and shared with his Dadda too.  Tyke loves to snuggle, when he wants to snuggle (he decides everything in this house!).  When we pick him up he gets so excited and grins from ear to ear while trying to tickle us under our chins with both of his busy little hands, then he'll dive into our shoulder and snuggle for a few seconds while saying "aaaaahhhh!"  Then come the kisses.  I love it!

I had to include this last picture.  Tyke was such a pill to work with for good pictures today.  The boy is too busy and has too many things on his agenda to hold still and pose for his Momma!  This last picture was the last picture of his "9 month photo shoot".  He had had enough and refused to smile or hold still and finally just sat there and blew raspberries at me!  He's such a handsome little goof ball!

We love you so much Tyke and we're so thankful to be your Mommy and Daddy!  You're the most perfect little person we've ever known and you make our lives complete!  Happy 9 months little guy!!
