Santa and Festival of Lights

I had good intentions for Saturday but it didn't work out as great as what I had planned in my head.  Chad had to work so I figured it would be a good time to take the boys shopping for the rest of Daddy's Christmas gifts and then we would meet up with him after work, go to dinner at Sizzler, go see Santa at the mall, and then go to the Festival of Lights in Spanish Fork.  I was so excited for our busy day ahead!  We got off to a rough start though.  Luke woke up super early not feeling the greatest.  I finally called and got him a doctors appointment and we hurried and got ready and headed to Spanish Fork.

Our appointment went well and we were out of there in no time.  Grandma Cheryl and Aunt Tiffy were at the mall shopping so we went and met up with them for lunch at Red Robin.  The boys were out of control and dang near drove me crazy!!  Tyke was cute and helped Luke get small sips of water through the straw, other than that they were little stinkers!  After lunch we made our way out into the mall to go and see Santa.  The boys were pretty good while we stood in line but kept shaking the fence and nearly tipping it over.  When it was our turn to visit Santa Tyke freaked out and I had to take him kicking and screaming.  He was hysterical!  Grandma Cheryl tried to help but he was having none of it!  Luke sat on his lap with no problem but looked at him completely unimpressed.  Oh boys! And Aunt Tiffy stood outside of the gate and snuck a few pictures with her phone (they're not allowed inside the gated area, they want you to purchase their $30+ packages for pictures, outrageous!)  They each got a treat and a book about Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer.

We did a little shopping at JCP and called it quits.  I was exhausted and had no desire to shop so we just headed to Daddy's work to hang out and nap/watch movies until he was done.  We got to see Daddy for a few minutes while he was still working, he had about two hours left on his shift.  Tyke went with him for a few minutes to buy some new sunglasses and when he came back he got to sit in the front seat with me while Luke napped in the back.  Chad headed back into work and hadn't been gone five minutes when Tyke started throwing up, ALL OVER the passenger seat.  I got him and the car cleaned up and we finished watching our movie.

Chad finished up with work and came and got in the car and we just looked at each other and smiled.  It was too early to go to the lights yet, I'd already attempted a Santa visit so that plan was out, and neither one of us was hungry for dinner.  All plans went right out the door.  We went and drove around and looked at Christmas lights which put Tyke right to sleep for his late afternoon nap.  Luke woke up and started getting mad at us so we had to pull over and get him a bottle and some Motrin.  We finally made it to the lights but we were about a half an hour early from opening time.  So we sat and waited and ended up being the third car in line.

While waiting, Tyke woke up and said he was going to be sick so we hurried and got him out into the fresh cold air and that seemed to help.  A couple of minutes later it was time to drive through the lights.  We let both boys sit up front and they loved it!  Tyke was mesmerized by the lights and Luke, well, he was mesmerized by all of the radio buttons and kept changing the station on us.  When I tried to distract him or pull him away he would freak out on me.  So, he pretty much cried and threw a fit the entire drive through.  As soon as we were out we drove over to an empty parking lot and got the boys a diaper change and then buckled them up into their car seats and then headed to Salem ponds to see the lights there.  The lit trees floating on the ponds are probably my favorite!  After a quick drive through of the lights there we headed for Mona.  We went and visited Grandpa Terry for a while and got treated to a dinner of KFC thanks to Grandma Cheryl and Tiffy.  All in all it ended up being a pretty good day for saying not one thing went as I had wanted it to, haha.
