The Bubba Lu is 14 months old today! He's such a character and has been so much fun to watch the last month. He has really changed a lot. His walking is great now and his balance is really good. He hardly ever falls and likes to just casually walk around the house checking everything else. He's such a big boy and he knows it!
Luke's little personality has really exploded this past month. He's a goofy little thing and has us laughing a lot. He likes to bend over and stand on his head, butt in the air, a lot. He laughs at a lot of what Tyke does. He also screams and cries at a lot of what Tyke does, getting big brother in trouble almost constantly. We think he knows that if he screams/cries then Tyke is sent to time out. Poor Tyke, every time Luke does this now, whether he was really being picked on or not, runs and hides because he knows he's in going to get in trouble. We need to pay better attention and make sure that Luke isn't such a tattle tell for everything.
Luke has developed a very high pitched scream that he uses often to either get attention or get Tyke in trouble. He also uses it when he's not getting what he wants. It hurts the ears! I think it's kind of funny and cute, for now. Tyke hates it and covers his ears and acts annoyed. Luke definitely knows how to work us all in his favor.
Luke has started biting, mostly clothes, but he has got Tyke and Chad both really good. He loves to chomp down on any kind of fabric and pull away making a ripping/teeth grinding sound. I hate it and it makes me cringe a little. He thinks it's funny. I sometimes wonder if maybe it feels good on his teeth or if he's just a little stinker... He bit Tyke below the right shoulder blade and almost drew blood. Tyke was tender in that spot for days and had a yucky reddish purple bruise from Mr. Lu. Luke also bit Chad on the forearm a few days later. We have smacked his mouth and told him it's naughty. I'm afraid we're going to have a long battle with this one. Lu is super stubborn when it comes to learning no-no's. He is determined and does and wants what he wants no matter what!
With all of the sassiness that is Luke, he is also shy. He has become SO shy in the last month or so. He ducks his head, pressing his chin to his chest, and shyly looks up at people before really ducking and hitting the floor in scared little tears. It's pretty cute to watch. He is shy with family member and especially with strangers. He even sometimes acts shy around us. He's my shy little sweetheart!
Luke's vocabulary is still pretty basic: dad and mum. He has added the word cheese to his vocabulary. Whenever I try to take his picture, if he's will to cooperate, he grins a huge grin and says, "Eeeeze!" It's pretty much the most adorable thing ever! We think he can say Tyke but we're not certain. There have been a couple of times it sounded like that's what he said but when we ask him to say Tyke he looks at us like we're crazy. Pretty much this kid just likes to say "Dad," like 90% of the time. He loves his Daddy.
Luke has got quite the obsession with remote controls lately. He throws a mega fit if he can't pack one around with him. We tried tricking him by giving him a remote that doesn't work but he refuses to play with it and wants the real one. Funny thing is they look identical but he can tell. Sometimes he doesn't want the white remote but the black one, and sometimes he want the big black one not he small black one (yes, we have too many! Two for the Direct TV, one for the TV and one for the sound bar. We had it set up so we only had to use one remote for all of that until it died...because Luke threw it one too many times. And that's the remote he refuses to play with, go figure.) He will drop to the floor and throw the biggest fits you've ever seen if he doesn't get just the right remote and right now. He's high maintenance I tell ya!
Luke has learned a lot of fun new things this past month. He can now climb on and off of the couches. He's only had a couple of crashes but that's how you learn, right? Luke can crawl up the stairs now but still hasn't mastered going down. He is drawn to the stairs at Grandma Cheryl's house and is so curious about them. He loves climbing up them but we can't quite convince him to try crawling down. Luke can give high fives now (as of 12-5-15). He likes to slap and he slaps hard and one day I got tired of it and told him to only slap hands. I taught him how to give high fives so now when he goes to slap we hold up our hands and get a high five instead. Luke likes to play with cars lately and not just to eat and slobber on them. He loves to crawl around on his hands and knees pushing them with one while using the other hand to move forward. It's amazing to me how naturally that comes to boys. It's adorable to watch and sometimes he even makes noises with his little mouth. Luke has figured out how to knock and knocks on doors, windows and walls now. It's adorable! He has started to hold things up to his ear and pretends like it's a phone. He will use remotes, toys and our phones. When we hold our phone up to our ear and say hello? he immediately holds whatever is in his hand up to his ear and smiles. Luke has started blowing kisses and it's pretty much the most adorable thing ever! He pulls his hand up to his mouth and says "ah-wah!" as he pulls it away. I love that boys kisses!!
This boy is full of sass and knows how to get his own way and drive this mamma crazy! He still throws the biggest fits if he doesn't get what he wants. I'm always saying how high maintenance he is and HE IS!!! He has started to sass back at us and for now it's pretty darn cute. He will hold his pointer finger up to his nostril and say "shhh!" whenever we tell him to "shh!" He also has learned to really shake his head no at us when we tell him to get out of trouble. He sure likes trouble!
Luke still loves his binky and we would be in big trouble without one close by. I just know it's going to be a nightmare when it's time to get rid of it. He is miserable without his bink! He also still loves his minky blankets. When he's tired or needing a good cuddle he will cry and cry until we pick him up. He then proceeds to point at his binky and grunt and then points at his blanket and grunt until we have picked up both and given them to him. He's in control and he knows it!
Our little guy isn't so little and continues to grow and thrive. He is wearing anywhere from 12-18 month jeans, 18 month to 2t shirts, size 4 diapers and size 4 shoes. He can walk in shoes as of 11-27-15 but definitely prefers to be barefoot. He has started to stick his nose up at solid foods lately but I think that's because he's teething. He likes his milk warmed and refuses to drink it cold. He's not a big fan of chocolate milk lately. He likes juice and water. He LOVES M&M's and yogurt bites and ice cream. He's such a funny, messy little eater!
We love our Bubba-Lu so dang much! He's so much fun to chase around and to just watch. He makes us laugh daily (and want to pull our hair out) and we wouldn't have it any other way! We love you Luke! Happy 14 months buddy!
