Clayson Christmas Party 2015

We had our Clayson family Christmas Party this past Saturday (12-5-15) at the "Spare Room" in Mona.  We debated on going since Tyke wasn't feeling the greatest but decided to anyway (and by not feeling the greatest I mean he had just been diagnosed with croup the day before but didn't really act sick at all on Saturday other than a runny nose so that was the deciding factor).  We had a great time and Tyke had a blast running circles around the building chasing his cousins.  Luke was super shy and pretty much clung to his Daddy and myself the entire time.

We had a yummy lunch of baked potatoes with all of the fixins' (potato bar) and variety of desserts.  Tyke and Luke were both terrible eaters and pretty much wouldn't touch the food.

After lunch we played a white elephant game, Tyke got into a fist fight with one of his distant cousins that's his age (that was fun and awkward to break up, they were slugging each other in the face and screaming because Tyke was blocking the door to go outside), and then it was time for our special guest to come, Santa!

Chad and I were both excited to see how the boys would react.  We were both surprised with Tyke.  He FREAKED out and crouched down and hid behind a chair before coming unglued and crying and screaming hysterically!  He's NEVER EVER acted like that but the poor kid was terrified and Santa hadn't even made eye contact with him at all or anything.  I picked him up to calm him down and he put a death grip around my neck and wouldn't let go.  Silly Tyke.  All season long he has told us, "I no LIKE Ho Ho!" I guess he meant it, ha!  Luke could have cared less about the big red guy and just ducked his head shyly.

Luke got to sit on Santa's lap before Tyke.  He did really good.  I thought he would cry but he just looked at Santa curiously and was not amused.  He wouldn't smile and he wouldn't take his present so I took it for him.  After he was done with his "visit" I took him and gave him his gift.  He got super excited and started chewing on the box right away, eating paper and turning his mouth red.  He got a little stuffed Mickey Mouse!  He was excited but it quickly disappeared and he refused to hold his toy.  The kid likes to throw things.  It was a fight to get a picture of him with his gift from Santa.

There were a few more kids called to sit on Santa's lap before it was Tyke's turn.  Chad took him up, kicking and screaming and clawing and trying oh so hard to escape this torture.  Chad got to sit on Santa's lap, hoping that that would help calm Tyke's fears, but it didn't work and Tyke squirmed to get free and hid his face from Santa the entire time.  Santa tried to give Tyke his gift but he refused as well.

After everyone had had their turn on Santa's lap it was photo op time.  I somehow was able to talk Tyke into standing by Santa for a picture of him and Luke with the big guy.  Instead Santa grabbed him and sat him on his lap and he let him.  There were no smiles at all from either of our boys but there were also no tears, I'll take it!  We got our pictures taken with Santa and then called it quits.  After Santa left the party dwindled down to only a few of us.  We hurried and cleaned up and called it a day!  It was a fun party and we're glad that we were able to attend.  Hopefully by Christmas Eve the boys will be more Santa ready (when they sit on his lap again at the Kay family party).
