We had a great Christmas this year!! It's hard to believe that it has come and gone already.
I had to work yesterday until noon. The boys hung out at Grandma's house, playing with all of their cousins, while Daddy and the brother in laws all went pheasant hunting. They had a good time, all of them. The hunt was successful and Daddy had fun.
We had our annual Kay family Christmas party last night. This year was a little different. Our party was held at the old Mona LDS church rather than Grams and Gramps house. With the new changes this past year (the stroke being the main one) it was decided that this family is just too big to have anymore big parties at their house. It was sad to think that we wouldn't be partying at their home but it turned out great at the church. Mark and Jamie decorated and it turned out so good. We (Grandma Cheryl, my sisters and myself) were in charge of the food. We had a yummy dinner of turkey, rolls, yummy potatoes, salads and desserts. We all had a great time visiting with each other and the kids had a blast running around the gym. Santa arrived around 7 p.m. for a quick visit. As soon as he made his presence known poor Tyke ran and crouched down behind a chair, taking a peek at the big guy occasionally to make sure he was keeping his distance. Chad picked Tyke up to comfort him but he panicked thinking he was being taken to Santa. He wasn't but Santa caught sight of Tyke and came over to say hi. Tyke freaked out! He really does not like the big guy this year. Everyone got their turn visiting Santa. Both of our boys cried, especially Tyke. Poor Santa, nearly every little kid cried this year. After he left we all quickly cleaned up and left too. On our way home we made a quick stop at Grandma Jean's to visit. We spent about an hour with her before calling it a night and heading home.
When we got home we hurried and got the boys cleaned up and ready for bed in their cute Christmas jammies. I tried to convince Tyke to help me put out cookies and milk for Santa but he didn't want to. He got mad at me for even considering such a thing. He kept repeating, "I no like Ho-Ho, I HATE Ho-Ho!" Lucky for Santa I didn't give in to Tyke's demands and he got a big plate of cookies and a glass of milk. We got the boys to bed late and it was probably around 11 p.m. before they crashed.
It was a long restless night. Nothing new just Luke was up a lot wanting bottles and Tyke was super squirmy. I got up around 5 a.m. to get breakfast going (crock pot cinnamon rolls) and had a hard time falling back to sleep. I finally did but it wasn't long before it was time to get up again so I was exhausted and tired. Chad got up before us all and got a fire going so it was nice and toasty when we came out. The boys were sleepy heads and slept until just after 7 a.m. They had to stay in our room, watching cartoons and drinking their morning sippy cups of chocolate milk, while we waited for Nana to show up around 7:30 a.m. It had snowed all night long and was coming down good when she showed up. We were glad that she had made it safely. We let the boys loose and they came running out of the bedroom and stopped in their tracks amazed at what Santa had left for them.
Tyke went crazy opening his presents! He wanted to open them all and Luke would have gladly let him if we hadn't stopped him. Luke got into one of his shy, upset moods when he realized Nana was watching. He gets so shy around pretty much everyone except for us, Grandma Cheryl and Aunt Tiffy (because they babysit him 40 hours a week for us while we work). He wanted nothing to do with Christmas morning. We managed to get him to open a couple of presents but he really didn't care to play or interact at all. He spent most of his time lying on the floor throwing a typical Luke temper tantrum. Tyke loved everything he got and was so anxious for us to pull toys out of their boxes so he could get busy playing! He really wanted a shotgun for Christmas and luckily his Mommy and Daddy bought one for him and Luke to share. Because we knew he wanted one so badly we saved it for last so that he wouldn't lose focus on the rest of his gifts. Every box he picked up, not matter it's shape or size, he shook and excitedly asked, "Dis my shotgun?!" He was ecstatic when he finally got his shotgun! We saved two gifts for Luke to open later, hoping he would be in a better mood, but before the day was over Tyke got a hold of them and opened them for him. Maybe next year will work out better for our shy little Lu.
After opening all of the gifts and visiting it was breakfast time. We enjoyed cinnamon rolls, eggs and bacon. We visited some more and played for a while before Nana had to leave. We were lazy for a good part of the morning after that, all of us exhausted. We finally got the strength to get up and get ready for the day and headed out to Grandma Cheryl's house to play with the Robertson clan. We packed our snow clothes and a few toys and were on our way.
We had a good long visit at Grandma and Grandpa's house. They were gone visiting grand kids when we got there. We hung out with Alex and Jo and the girls and ate and visited and played. Tyke and the girls had a really hard time sharing their Paw Patrol toys (they got some too) and we had a few little fights that almost got out of control. Eventually Alex and the kids ventured out into the snow to play for a while. Tyke loved it and refused to come back inside even though he was nearly frozen solid. It was fun to watch him play in the snow. Sophie Anne taught him how to make snow angels and he thought that was pretty funny. I finally had to drag him into the house after he accidentally dove face first into a huge rock. He bruised his chin pretty good but that's all luckily. About an hour after going inside and warming up everyone started to show up for our little Christmas Day party. It's never really planned we just kind of all show up and bombard Grandma and Grandpa's house. We ate and visited and exchanged gifts among the cousins. The boys sure were spoiled and we ended up coming home with a truck load of new gifts. We finally called it a day and went home to relax. The boys had had such a long busy day that they almost immediately fell asleep once we left Grandma and Grandpa's house. They slept the entire night which was nice for us, finally some peace and quiet!
It has been such a great Christmas Day! We couldn't have asked for better, well maybe no tears from the Lu but what do you do? More pictures would have been nice too. The few that I got with the nice camera didn't turn out too well and my iPhone memory was full so I didn't get near as many as I would have liked. I'm a little bummed about that. We love our families and appreciate everything they did for us and our boys. The boys were spoiled by all and will have so much fun with all of their new toys. Merry Christmas 2015!
