27 Months Old

Roni man is another month older.  He continues to amaze us with all that he does!  He's so full of energy and life and keeps us on our toes!  He loves his brother and his mommy and daddy too.  He LOVES getting to play with his friends (cousins) and is a good little wrestler.

Tyke is obsessed with the iPad still.  It's all he asks for and when he gets it he teasingly says, "Mom, I dot iPad!"  He loves that thing and might be playing it a bit too much for our liking.  We try to not give him too much play time so that he will play with other toys, etc.  He has learned so much from that thing.  He can identify and pronounce pretty much any letter of the alphabet.  The other day I was wearing a Levi Strauss shirt and he pointed out and said every single letter perfectly except for the "v", without us asking.  He gets so excited when he sees and identifies a letter.  I'm impressed with his smarts.  We have a game on the iPad that is similar to Mario Brothers (Nintendo) and he is seriously a little pro at it.  I can't say that I've seen many two year olds play games like he does.  Even Aunt Jo commented that it was "disturbing" to watch someone so small play that well.  It's just mind blowing how talented he is.

Roni has been quite the little singer lately.  In the shower, after a couple of minutes, he will start singing at the top of his lungs!  I have no clue what he's singing but he definitely has a tune.  He sings while he plays, and he always sings the "la la la la la" part of AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" when it plays on his Planes Fire and Rescue movie.  He's too cute!

Tyke is a lover of the great outdoors!  We have been enjoying the crazy Utah spring weather.  He loves playing in his little sand box, and the big one (our freshly tilled garden).  He loves riding his bike, playing on the slide Aunt Jo gave him, throwing rocks, moving sand around the yard (grrr) and helping Daddy with shop business.  He loves helping his Dad with anything mechanical/man stuff.  I just know that this kid is going to do great things!  And he has great teachers to teach him (his Dad and his Bampa Terry).

Tyke's appetite lately has been out of control and we are loving it and taking full advantage of it!  He has been quite the little eater the last week or so, even trying new things.  There have been a few things he hasn't liked but at least he's tried them.  He's been eating a lot too.  He must be going through a growth spurt.  He's cut back on his milk drinking a little bit.  He mainly requests "joo" (juice) or water.  He used to start his mornings off with a sippy of chocolate milk but the last three or four days he's thrown a fit until I get him some juice.  He's been helping himself to the pantry too.  He will open it and look up to see what he wants and if it's out of reach he will go grab the step stool and get his treat.  I love watching his problem solving skills like that.  I can't help but just smile!

Some new phrases from Tyke:

  • I wuz you mommy/daddy/Louie-pooey! (I love you)
  • Mom! Joo! (Mom, juice!)
  • Mom, lie, pay, moo-ee (meaning, mom turn on the light in my room so I can play, and start my movie too!)
  • I dee: ar-pain, bird, fla, deer and the list goes on but those are his main ones (I see airplane, I see bird, I see flag, I see deer)  He points out everything he sees with so much excitement!  It's fun =)
  • Ma, I man! (Mom, I'm a man!  He told me this the other night when he surprisingly took and ate a piece of elk steak from his Daddy, we were all shocked because this kid does not eat!  This was the start of his mega appetite, yay!)
  • Mom, I dot deer! (after he makes a shotgun sound pretending to hunt the deer that we see on our drives up to Grandma's house each morning)
  • Dad, door hurry! (When he's anxious to go outside, he's a demanding little fella)
  • Louie-pooey (Luke's newest nickname from his brother)
  • It no me, mom/dad/Louie-pooey do! (Tyke has turned into a little liar...every time he farts, or does something he shouldn't, and we say his name he immediately says, "It no me, mom do!"  If I say it wasn't me then he goes on down the list, dad do, Louie do.  Poor Luke can't defend himself so he gets the blame pretty much always)  Even Grandma Cheryl and Grandpa get blamed for stuff now.

Tyke is getting tall and skinny!  His clothing sizes have remained the same but I've noticed lately that his 2t jeans are getting a little snug so I've had to let the elastics out a notch or two, and they're starting to look like floods as well.  Shirts sizes are still 2t-3t.  Shoe size is an 8 with not much more room to grow.  He hates flip flops by the way...He's still in size 5 diapers.  We are still planning on waiting a couple more months before pushing the potty training thing.  However, the other day he brought me a pair of his "Planes" underwear and wanted to wear them so I put them on over his diaper and twice he stopped playing and told me he needed to pee.  I took him to the bathroom and he peed in the big boy potty!  We were pretty proud and he thought it was pretty cool too.  Tyke has another new tooth too!  His right side bottom second molar!  I'm not sure when it popped in but I noticed on 4-7-15 while brushing his teeth.  Which by the way, this kid loves having his teeth brushed and puts up no fight at all with us.  He looks forward to it and does so good.  After we're done brushing his teeth we give him the brush and he "brushes" them too.  It's adorable!

This kiddo of ours is learning and growing so much and so fast!  We can't wait to see what this next month brings.  We love you Tykers!
