2nd Birthday Party!

Yesterday we celebrated Tyke's birthday!  I had a lot of fun planning and decorating for it.  It was a lot of work but well worth it to see the look on Tyke's face.  He loves Mickey Mouse and so we went with that theme this year.  Our living room and kitchen were covered in Mickey!  Tyke thought it was pretty cool!

We had quite the party crowd with both families showing up to celebrate with us.  I figure there were around thirty of us!  Because it was such a big special day for both of our little guys we went a little more "fancy" on the dinner.  We had turkey, ham, yummy potatoes, salad and veggies.  It was a hit with everyone and there weren't very many leftovers when we were done.

A few of the decorations.  I failed to take good pictures of them all, dang it!  We made all of the banners and signs.  There were characters everywhere but mostly Mickey.  The tables were lined with cut outs of Mickey too.  I really regret not taking more pictures of it all but we were too busy partying and having fun with our family!

I attempted to make "Oh Toodles" for Tyke's birthday cake but I never could get my frosting red enough so it ended up looking more like "Coodles"

We filled a bunch of small baggies with M&M's and stickers and sealed them up with this cute poem.

After eating dinner Tyke was anxious to have some cake!  He was eyeballing the cupcakes and wanted one really bad so I told him to go tell his Daddy it was time for cake.  He walked right up to Chad and pointed at his cake excitedly.  We gathered all the kiddos up (they were having fun playing in Tyke's room), lit the candle and sang Happy Birthday to our big guy!  Tyke thought it was pretty awesome being the center of attention.  We had him sitting on the table next to his cake (and yes, he stuck his foot right in it!).  He was too excited to blow out his candle and got a little help from his Daddy.  (The day before, on his birthday, he had had no problem at all blowing out his candles on his donut.  In fact, he made me re-light them three more times because he thought it was so fun!).  Tyke enjoyed his cupcake and ice cream a lot!  He ate better yesterday, both his dinner and his cake, than he has in a long time.

As soon as we finished up eating and cleaning, we put Tyke back on the table and had him open his gifts.  He is one spoiled, loved little guy!  He did really well opening his gifts and he had a little bit of help from his cousin Waylon.

Luke was spoiled as well!  He got passed around a lot and was held and talked to by pretty much everyone.  He loved the attention and was full of smiles and snuggles!  He's our little sweetheart!

Tyke's gifts: (Thank you Aunt Stephanie for taking notes!)

A dinosaur and airplane (Uncle Cody & Aunt Jenny)(Aunt Jenny came and took Tyke on his birthday to do a little birthday shopping and get an ice cream.  Tyke got to pick out his toys and he surprised us all with his choices)
A handmade card and bag of M&M's (Cousin Addi) (Poor Trayson had the flu and couldn't make it, so he gets to deliver Tyke's present to him in person sometime soon.  In the meantime, Addi was a sweetheart and made Tyke a card and got him a treat so he had something from them.)
Giant coloring book, crayons, puzzles, flash cards, $10 (Nana)
A "Cars" outfit and train (Great Grandma Gaye and Great Grandpa Wally)
A giant box of fruit snacks (Sam's club size!) and a book about bugs that came with a magnifying glass (Uncle Seth & Aunt Stephanie)
$30 (Grandpa Terry & Grandma Cheryl)
"Planes" helicopter (Uncle Chris & Aunt Danielle)
Backhoe tractor and bag of Six-lets (Aunt Tiffany & Uncle David and Aunt Heather Jo & Uncle Alex)
$5 (Great Grandma Clayson)
$10 (Great Grandma Jean)
Mini backpack, stuffed Mickey Mouse, and two packs of wafer cookies (Luke)
Giant Tonka Truck with trailer and four wheeler, clothes and jammies (Mom and Dad)

I think it's safe to say Tyke had a great second birthday!  Thank you to everyone that came and made it so fun!  We love this little boy so much and look forward to this next year watching him grow and learn.  He's a great kid and we are super proud of him!  Happy Birthday, once again, Roni-man!
