Happy Birthday Tyke!!! This baby of ours has turned into a little boy overnight, I swear! I can't believe our little Roni-man is two years old today! I think it's safe to say that this has been the fastest two years of our lives.
We are celebrating Tyke's birthday tomorrow with our family but I think it's safe to say he had a great day today! Chad has Friday's off so today started off with Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes for our Tykers (his party is going to be Mickey Mouse clubhouse themed). I was able to leave work around noon so we could get last minute preparations done for the party tomorrow. Tyke requested pita pita for lunch and so I went and got him a pizza from Little Caesars. I also grabbed him a giant donut from DaVinci's Bakery and topped it with two candles for him to blow out. As soon as lunch was over with Aunt Jenny showed up to take Tyke on a date. She took him to the dollar store to pick out his present(s) (He chose an airplane and a creepy looking dinosaur that roars and his mouth lights up). Afterwards she took him for ice cream at Reed's and then brought him back home. While she was gone I hurried and decorated his cake. Around 4:45 p.m. Aunt Stephanie showed up to take the boys to her house for the evening. Chad and I went to dinner and a movie with Jenny and Cody. Tyke had a blast playing with his cousins! Balloons, pizza, gifts and cousin time! What more could a kid ask for?
Two years old! It's hard to believe that it was two short years ago that this little guy came into our lives. He has been a blast to watch grow and learn! Tyke just keeps getting more and more cute and more and more sassy. He's smart, he's fun, and he's sweet!
Tyke thinks he's so big now. For the past month or so he has refused baths so he showers instead. He loves it and hates to get out. He sings while in the shower and it's completely adorable. Tyke also refuses to sit in a high chair anymore so we've put it away until Luke is big enough to use it. Tyke climbs up to the table all by himself, into either mine or Chad's chair, and looks at us sarcastically and yells, "Ha! Ha!" while rocking his head from shoulder to shoulder. He's a little smart alec and loves to tease us constantly. In the living room, whenever one of us goes to sit down our fast little Tyke always takes off running and dives into our spot and gives us his "Ha! Ha!" So we go to sit somewhere else and he moves to that spot just as fast. He's lucky he hasn't been sat on yet.
Speaking of fast, this kid is FAST! He CAN NOT walk! He only has one speed and that's fast. He runs everywhere he goes and is hard to catch. Tyke doesn't miss a thing. As soon as one of us lays down on the ground Tyke drops what he's doing and is on top of us wrestling. He's almost always on top of us before we've even gotten all the way down. He loves to wrestle his Daddy and he loves kick box us too. He has a bit of a mean streak in him and will kick, slap and punch (all with good form might I add) until we pout like we've been hurt. It's the only way to stop him, without any force. He immediately stops and gives us a hug while repeating, "I'm darry, I'm darry" (I'm sorry). With me, he'll move the hair out of my eyes, kiss my forehead and lift my chin up all while saying, "I'm darry" It's pretty much the sweetest thing ever and makes getting "beat up" worth it.
Tyke is all boy and loves his trucks, trains and especially his "ar-pains" (airplanes). He loves small toys that fit in his hands (and aren't age appropriate). The more he can fit in his hands the better. He has two airplanes ("Planes" movie planes) that he packs around everywhere, even to bed. He panics if he can't find his "ar-pain!"
Tyke's vocabulary is getting better and better. He's starting to put together small sentences. The only one I can think of right off is "I darry, bay Lu!" (I'm sorry baby Luke). He tells Lu-Lu that quite often and I'm not sure why half of the time. Tyke has been spending a lot of time (but not as much time as he'd like) on the iPad playing ABC's games. He probably gets an hour of play time a day, if even that, and he has learned so much. There are a lot of games on the iPad but he seems to prefer the educational ones. He loves the ABC's and sings them constantly, especially when he notices letters anywhere. He can identify pretty much any letter. Some he can say and some he can't, he just knows what they are. He will point and excitedly sing "e i e i g!" to the tune of "abcdefg." It's adorable! He's also added "no, no, no, no, e i e i g" to his song (now I know my abc's!). He's so fun to watch! Tyke can also spell his name, when he wants to. He says it so cute when it's on his terms: "Teeeeee Wahhhhh Keeehhh Eeeeee!" When we bug him to spell his name, and believe me it takes a lot of convincing, he just looks at us with a grin. We'll say "T" and he'll very quickly say "y k e!" and run away laughing. He's a character for sure! (Chad and I are convince he'll be class clown once he's in school...)
Tyke is a dang good helper and loves to help around the house, when HE wants to. He puts dishes in the sink, laundry in the hamper, and diapers in the garbage. He likes to pick at the carpet until he pulls a piece or two out and then brings it to me with a disgusted look on his face while yelling, "Mom! Ew!" He does the same thing for every speck of dirt or wood he picks up too. He's a funny little thing!
Tyke is bossy and likes to argue. He loves watching movies, mainly Finding Nemo and Planes Fire & Rescue. Every time we load up in the car he commands, "Mom! Moo-ee!" and once we get the screen open then he commands, "buh-bon!" Letting us know to hit the play button. If I tell him no then he repeats it all to his dad, "Dad! Moo-ee!" until one of us gives in and plays his movie. We also have a daily argument over what he wants for breakfast, lunch and dinner. His answer is always "PITA!" (pizza) and we always tell him no pizza for breakfast. This frustrates him and makes him yell "PITA!" even louder. It gets louder each time until he's out of breath and gives up. He would live on pizza if we'd let him. It's by far his favorite food!
Tyke still has the best big brother title. He's adorable with Luke and they're best buds already. Luke loves to watch all of the silly things Tyke does and sometimes he coos and smiles at him. Tyke thinks it's hilarious to get super close to Luke so that Luke's out of control hands touch his face. He pretends like he's being beat up and yells, "Ooooh!!!" while falling backwards giggling and then comes back for more. It melts my heart to watch my babies play together.
Tyke is tall and skinny, still. He eats fairly well but never anything that we cook. He only eats "junk" food: pizza, corn dogs, mac and cheese, etc. Tyke is a little stink when it comes to trying new foods, or even foods he's had before and likes but forgets that he likes. If we can get just one taste in his mouth, just to say he's tried it, usually he will like it and eat it on his own. The problem is getting that one taste in his mouth. He almost always pukes on us when we "force feed" him. He's a little turkey like that! Lately he's been eating a lot of yogurt, strawberry yogurt, and he can't get enough of it. We fight over yogurt because I cut him off, worried that he'll get a belly ache if he eats too much. Anyway, so he eats really well but he's skinny and doesn't show it. I blame it on all of the running he does.
Tyke is wearing size 2t-3t shirts, 2t jeans, size 8 shoes (he's almost grown into them!) and size 5 diapers. His growth has slowed down a little bit I guess you could say. He gets mistaken for a three or four year old often because of his looks and how mature he acts. He's not a normal two year old! Tyke still has only twelve teeth but I think more might be trying to fight their way through. He's been biting again and fevering a little and that combo almost always means new teeth are coming.
Oh Tykie, you're such a fun, sweet little boy and we love you so much! We hope that you have the best birthday ever! We can't believe you're two years old already! We look forward to watching you grow and learn this next year. We can't wait to see what it has in store for us all. You're a perfect little bundle of boy and we love you to the moon and back! Happy Birthday Roni!
(I took these pictures one day too late. I took them after his birthday party, which was held the day after his birthday. I accidentally skinned his chin with my fingernail, he sliced his face on one of the chairs set up for the party, and he also cut his head open by running into the corner of the counter top. It's a good thing he's a tough kid!) (Also, now that he's finally cooperative about having his monthly picture taken with his bear, we are done. I figure that two years is long enough.)
