Yesterday we got to go and hang out at Jenny and Cody's house for a fun family Easter party. Everyone was there and we all had a great time eating, playing and coloring eggs!
For dinner we had BBQ steak (we all brought our own, Jen and Cody provided the rest of the food), baked potatoes, Olive Garden style salad and squash (from Chris and Danielle's garden). It all tasted great and really hit the spot.
After dinner a few of the guys went outside to hide the kids Easter eggs. Everyone had 12 eggs with their names written on them and numbered 1 through 12. The rules were that they had to find all 12 eggs but they had to pick them up in order starting with #1. Tyke lucked out and had just one little egg to find this year. We bundled him up in his cute little bear outfit and John Deere blanket and his daddy took him around the yard looking for his egg (I played paparazzi). We found it right next to the back door. We were excited, Tyke was just cold and happy to be outside. After about 10 minutes Chad and I took Tyke in the house to warm up. The rest of the kids were pretty quick to find all of their eggs. They all got some great loot too! Tyke got a cute little stuffed puppy dog for his grand prize.
After the kids finished up it was the adults turn to search for eggs. The kids had a blast hiding our eggs and did a pretty darn good job at doing so. We all at one point or another had to have the kids help us find them. Darian was kind enough to stay in the house and watch (aka spoil) Tyke so that Chad & I could go play. We had the same rules as the kids, having to pick the eggs up in order, but our prizes were different. Each couple had brought 2 "white elephant" type gifts, one boy and one girl prize. All of them were bagged up separately so we didn't know what they were. The first guy to find all their eggs got to pick from the guy prizes first and so on, and the same went for the girls. Chad had no problem finding his 12 eggs, he was the first one done out of all of us, and out of the guys, which meant he got to pick the first prize. He ended up with 2 giant bags of jerky. I came in second in the girls bracket and for my prize I got 2 new scentsy scents!
We sat around for a while visiting and then decided it was time to color some eggs. Each family had been told to bring a dozen boiled eggs for this. Even though Tyke couldn't color his eggs we put him up to the table so he could take it all in. He was mesmerized and just stared at everyone and what they were doing. I colored and decorated an egg for him and after it dried I sat it on his blanket in front of him so I could get a picture of him and his first Easter egg. While I was busy moving around so I could get a good shot he decided he'd slobber on his egg and ended up turning his little mug blue for the remainder of the day in the process. It was pretty cute, but bad baby!! The kids had a blast coloring and decorating their eggs. Jen and Cody had a lot of options for them like hair, stickers, etc. and the kids got pretty creative with it all.
After cleaning up we all went and watched a movie in their "theater room" and enjoyed a great big bowl of ice cream with brownies. It was such a fun party and we're glad that Jen and Cody took the time to plan it out for us all! We're definitely looking forward to next years big egg hunt! =)
