We waited quite a while for Dr. Fullmer to show up. I think we were the last patients of the day. Our appointment was for 4:45 p.m. I think it was close to 5:30 p.m. when Dr. Fullmer finally came in. While we waited the boys played with books and games and Luke tried his hardest to unplug the computer. That little stinker is obsessed with plugs lately and he gets his hands slapped a lot, which by the way, he thinks is funny. I filled out a questionnaire on Tyke to check his fine motor skills, speech, etc. Tyke kept trying to get a hold of Dr. Fullmer's "toys" (the tools he uses to check ears) while waiting and got pretty upset with us because we wouldn't let him. He had finally had enough and opened the door to leave. We talked him into coming back in and sitting down and luckily just then Dr. Fullmer showed up.
Tyke was a little apprehensive at first but after Dr. Fullmer checked his eyes with his "flashlight" he gave it to Tyke to play with and the rest of the checkup went smoothly. Tyke checked out perfect! He has really grown the last six months. He's up two pounds and has grown two inches since January! Dr. Fullmer said if he continues to grow like he is he should end up being around 6'3" when he's done!
Tyke's 2 1/2 Years Stats:
Weight: 34 pounds 9 ounces (90%)
Height: 39.6 inches (99%)
Head: (the nurse took the measurements but forgot to write them down, dang!)
Tyke aced his little questionnaire. A score of 40 was good and Tyke got 55! Way to go bud! We discussed a concern about Tyke's speech that Aunt Jo had pointed out when she was in town a month ago. Dr. Fullmer told us there is nothing to worry about until he's aged 3-4 and to keep doing what we've been doing which is to NOT speak baby talk with him and make him try hard to say words correctly (thanks for the advice Aunt Jo). Tyke did so well with his appointment that Dr. Fullmer gave him a brand new box of crayons and a couple of pictures to color. Tyke also got to pick out two stickers from the sticker bucket. Dr. Fullmer was kind enough to check both boys ears since we are all catching this dumb summer cold, and they both checked out perfect, for now. I can't believe how Tyke has grown! He doesn't have to go back for another well check until he's THREE! That will be hear before we know! I can't wait to see all of the new things he learns, discovers, and how he grows in the next five months. Keep up the good work buddy!
