Tyke continues to amaze us with all that he does and learns. He's a smart little guy, a huge help around the house and yard, and he knows how to get what he wants. He just keeps on getting cuter and cuter and more and more fun!
Our little guy tries so hard to dress himself. If he finds an article of clothing laying around he'll pick it up and try to put it on. He knows that shirts go over your head so he tries really hard to imitate that. He pulls the shirts over his head and drapes them around his neck, like a scarf, and walks off proud as can be. He tries to put on his shoes and socks too. He definitely knows what goes wear and how he just can't quite get any of it on. He will get the sock or shoe to hang off his big toe and then celebrate! It's adorable to watch and we can't believe how smart he is!
Tyke is completely independent when it comes to eating. He does really well feeding himself and hardly ever uses his hands. Occasionally he'll lean over his plate and eat his food like a puppy dog, he thinks that's pretty funny. Tyke knows what he wants when he wants it when it comes to food, treats and drinks. He says "wawa" for water and "mil" for milk. If he sees a sippy sitting nearby that he can't reach he will reach and grunt for it. When it's time to eat he'll stand at the pantry door or the fridge and yell "mom!" As soon as those doors open he knows just what he's after. I'll give him two choice for treats and he usually studies really hard, looking back and forth, before grabbing one. Once he has his food and drink in hand he heads in to watch cartoons and play. When it's dinner time, as soon as he sees his plate sitting on the counter he comes running to his high chair, ready to eat. He will drop his toys or whatever he's doing and come running to his high chair. He's very impatient about getting his plate once we put him in his chair and he has started to scream at us if we're not fast enough. I've finally had to just give him his food when I know it's too hot for him. He's careful though and blows on his foods and will nibble until it's cool enough to really shovel it in. He's funny to watch eat!
Tyke hides when he's in trouble now by crouching down and closing his eyes really tight, thinking you can't see him anymore. If we happen to be home, his safe hiding spot is in the corner of the living room behind the couch. He hides out there and he hides toys, remotes and our phones. He's a sneaky little guy!
Tyke has found a few new toys and tricks that we're not too fond of. Lately he is really obsessed with spatulas and is constantly stealing them out of the drawer and leaving them in random places. He likes to stick them between his legs like a stick horse and walk around the house until he loses them. Tyke has mastered how to climb on the couch, and not just up onto the couch but up onto the backs of them too! It scares us to death that he's going to fall off but he thinks it's just great. He will climb right up on top and lay across it like a cat. He also uses this new trick to play in the blinds which drives me crazy! Tyke's other new trick is flushing the toilet. I dreaded this day! He can't get enough of it and will flush like crazy while we're running his bath water, or if a bathroom door is accidentally left open. Tyke does NOT miss an opportunity to go and play! I've only caught him twice with his hand actually in the toilet while he's flushing with the other. Other than that he doesn't really play in the toilet or with the toilet paper, he just likes to flush. Tyke has mastered standing on his tip toes and does it a lot to reach things he shouldn't have. He can easily sit his cups and food on the counters now and he grab things off of the counters if they're not pushed back enough. He's too helpful!
Tyke has found himself in the mirror and he loves him! He will pull faces, talk, give knucks and kisses and just be an absolute little goof ball. It's fun to watch and we've tried catching him in the act on camera but he's too smart for us.
Roni-man is getting to be quite the little smarty pants. He's a tease and has such a fun, goofy personality developing. He still screams when he sees "tic toc croc" or when he wears his shark jammies. Our morning routines consist of me getting Tyke ready to go while Chad makes them breakfast and then he drops Tyke off at the babysitters on his way to work. Tyke has got this routine down pat! He fights with me to get dressed but once we're done all is well. We brush his teeth (which he's a champ at!), comb his hair, and then he runs into the kitchen screaming "wa-wall!!" He loves his Eggo waffles! He doesn't eat much of them but he has to have one every morning. He associates "wa-wall" with the toaster and will beg for one until he wins. After getting his waffle and sippy cup of milk it's time to leave. I ask for my kisses and he used to be so good to give them to me but now he's too busy and either tells me "No!" or "all don!" (all gone) while shrugging his shoulders. He's definitely getting more and more stingy with the kisses! At least he's cute about it I guess.
Tyke's vocabulary is getting quite big. For the most part everything sounds the same but with a slight variation in his tone or letters. He can say: all don (all gone), dunno (with actions), dope! (and smacks his head), momma and mom get repeated a million times a day, wa-wall (waffle), power (powder) and wor (work).
Our little guys is wearing 18-24 month clothes, size 6 shoes (they're a little big but the 5 1/2 sizes are too tight) and size 4 diapers. He has 9 teeth, his top front 4, bottom front 2, and 3 molars with one more on the way, ouch!
Tyke is growing like a weed and learning so much every day! We love being his mommy and daddy and couldn't be happier with the way our little guy progressing!
