15 Month Well Check

Tyke had his 15 month well check today!  I had almost convinced myself that he didn't need to go back until he was 18 months old but decided to call and check and sure enough, 15 months equaled shots.  I got him scheduled, taking the soonest one they had with Dr. Fullmer that fit our schedule (I swear all we do is go to the doctors lately!) for April 29, my birthday, yay.

I picked Tyke up from Aunt Jenny's house around 3:30 p.m. and headed to Payson.  Chad met us at the clinic and we headed in.  Tyke got a kick out of watching the fish swim around while we waited in the waiting room.  After waiting a few minutes we were finally called back.  We let Tyke walk himself back to the room.  He was very hesitant the whole way and when we got to the doorway he stopped in his tracks and looked at us with a very concerned face.  There was no way he was budging.  Chad finally had to pick him up and carry him in.  He knows what this place is all about!  We stripped him down to his diaper to get his stats and as soon as we started undressing him he started freaking out.  We finally got him calmed down by showing him the buttons on the scale.  He sat really good for his weigh in but the rest of the stats were a struggle.  After the nurse left he calmed down and we gave him a toy to play with.

Tyke's 15 months stats:
Weight: 23 pounds 13 ounces (76%)
Height: 33 inches (95%)
Head: 19.5 inches (98%)

Dr. Fullmer came in to give Tyke a good look over.  Tyke was very suspicious of him but did good letting him talk to him and check his ears.  As soon as he tried to listen to his heartbeat though, it was all down hill.  He cried big gator tears and couldn't hold onto Chad tight enough.  When Dr. Fullmer checked Tyke's mouth he discovered another molar has popped through!  I had no idea!  I had looked just two days before and saw nothing so I was shocked to see such a big tooth had come in.  Tyke now has 8 teeth, 6 on top and still just two on bottom.

Dr. Fullmer said Tyke looks perfect and he's growing great!  He also said it sounds like Tyke is developmentally ahead of the game with the way he acts and talks and plays.  We discussed a couple of concerns we have, a possible under bite and dry patches on his skin.  Dr. Fullmer assured us that Tyke's mouth is fine but he does have a very mild case of eczema.  We're supposed to cut way back on using soap at bath time, only 2-3 times a weeks, and make sure we lotion him at least twice a day.  If it doesn't clear up within two weeks they'll give us a prescription cream.

Shortly after Dr. Fullmer left, his nurse came in to give Tyke his shot.  He only had to have one this time (3 immunizations) which was nice but it still really ticked him off.  He cried and cried and was able to reach out and give the nurse knucks while screaming his head off.  We got him calmed down and dressed and let him pick out a sticker for doing so good!  As soon as we walked out of the office Tyke was full of giggles and happy to be done.
