Easter 2014

We had such a great Easter weekend this year!  We camped with the Kay and Sutherland clan again and had a blast!  Our only complaint was that the weekend was too short, it always is but especially when camping with family and friends.

I was able to get off work a couple of hours early on Friday and headed home to finish help packing the trailer.  We quickly finished up, gassed up the truck and headed west to our destination: Hobo's village.  This is the same place we camped last year, and on our first camp trip of the year this year.  It really is a nice little spot.  It's huge and flat surrounded by rocks for the kids to play on and lots of four wheeler trails.  We opted to not take our rhino this trip because we knew we wouldn't have time to use it, we had a "busy" schedule with being lazy, playing in the dirt, eating good food, and going to the big Easter egg hunt.

We didn't even have camp set up before Tyke started playing in the dirt.  Kayson came over to play too.  Kayson mostly just watched as Tyke would flip dirt on himself, and then he'd laugh hysterically at him.  Tyke didn't find it funny at all and just kept throwing dirt on his head.  It was almost like Tyke was oblivious that he had an friend waiting to play too.  Kayson was completely clean, Tyke was completely covered in dirt, and all within ten minutes of arriving.  The boy loves dirt!

As the night went on more and more campers came.  Our camp was somewhat small this year because of a lack of communication.  We ended up split up and half of the Kay fam camped about a mile west of where we were.  It was a little weird but we still had a good time.  We visited around the camp fire for a while before taking Tyke in to the trailer to get bathed and ready for bed.  After getting him clean and in jammies (boy was he ever dirty!) we started a movie, The Guardians (Thanks Nana!!), made Tyke a bottle, and snuggled up in bed while Chad went back outside to visit.  It didn't take long for Tyke to fall asleep, he had played so hard all day long and he slept really well through the night.  Although, when camping, for some reason he has to be up and ready to go at 5 a.m.  He loves it and can't wait to get back out in the dirt!

Saturday morning we all, the entire camp, got together for one big potluck breakfast!  We had french toast, hash browns, sausage and eggs with juice and milk.  It was delicious!  As soon as Tyke saw that there was french toast on the table he threw a fit for some.  I finally had to butt in line to steal him a piece.  He was happy as can be once he started munching on it.

After we cleaned up breakfast we visited for a while and munched on yummy camp treats provided by everyone.  Tyke played his little heart out in the dirt.  We had brought his four wheeler for him to ride but he had zero interest in it, which worked out great for all of the other little kids.  They fought like crazy over who's turn it was to ride.  All the mommy's and daddy's were concerned that Tyke wasn't getting his turn, he really didn't care.  He was content as can be flipping dirt on himself and anyone else who dared to go play with him.

Around 3:00 p.m. our little family loaded up in the truck and headed out further west to the big annual Bowles family Easter egg hunt!  The hunting was to begin at 4, so we figured we were getting there plenty early but we were the last ones to arrive.  Grandma Jean had bought trays and trays and trays of Subway sandwiches and everyone else had brought potluck salads and veggies for our lunch.  Chad and I filled up but Tyke didn't have time to eat, there was dirt to be played with.  After visiting for a while it was time for the big egg hunt to begin.  Tyke had a blast picking up all of the toys, treats and especially eggs!  In every egg was a paper to be redeemed with Grandma Jean.  Tyke ended up making about $15 from those little papers, along with a new movie, books and clothes.  Yes he was spoiled!  Everyone was!  When all was said and done, between two egg hunts (one for the kids and one for us big kids) we walked away with three large garbage bags full of loot!  We snuck a giant egg into Tyke's bag and took it out to show Grandma Cheryl.  She opened it up to see what was inside and found a little T-shirt announcing that Tyke is going to be a big brother!!!  Finally, everyone knows!

After the egg hunt Tyke got right back to playing in the dirt.

We eventually headed back to camp.  It was dark by the time we got back and the crew was all huddled around the camp fire.  We got Tyke bathed and ready for bed, bundled him up in a blanket and went and joined them.  He loved watching the campfire and he loved the cookies cousin Dustin kept feeding him.

Sunday morning we were excited to see that the Easter Bunny had found us and left two baskets right outside the trailer.  One for Tyke and one for....the new baby!  We announced that we're expecting baby #2 to everyone this weekend, now the whole world knows.  It was fun and such a relief!  No more lying about why I don't feel good and we don't come around lately.  Tyke was super excited about his bubbles and the eggs filled with cookies.  He opted to eat them before he would touch his breakfast, which we let him, just this once.  We dressed him up in his new shirt to announce he's going to be a big brother and headed out to show it off.  Everyone was excited!  Tyke just wanted down to play in the dirt and be left alone by everyone trying to read his shirt.  He caught eye of cousin Colqui riding his new motorcycle and just stared in amazement.  As soon as Dustin asked if he wanted to ride he ran right to him and climbed on!  He was so excited, until the motorcycle started up and they started moving, then he started crying and wanted off.  We each did our own breakfasts and after cleaning up we helped each other out with getting loaded up and headed for home.  As always, we had a blast and the weekend went way to fast!  Happy Easter 2014!!
