15 Months Old

I'm a little more on the ball this month.  Tyke is 15 months old today!  His little personality just keeps getting more and more cute!  He's a goof ball and is always trying to make us laugh.

Lately Tyke has REALLY turned into a Daddy's boy.  He always has been but even more so now.  He gets very concerned and upset if he thinks that his Daddy is leaving without him.  Tyke loves going bye bye with Daddy.  In fact, even if they aren't leaving, every time Chad picks Tyke up he turns and waves bye to me.  He loves helping his Pa!  The other day while Chad was changing the oil and rotating the tires on the little truck Tyke was right there in the middle of it.  He is curious to learn what his Daddy is doing and watches him very close.

Tyke is really good at entertaining himself, when he wants to.  He plays with all of his toys well but his favorites are his trucks, especially the ones with buttons that make noise.  He pushes the buttons non stop (which can get really annoying) and tries to figure out where the sound and movements come from.  He's a very curious little guy like his Daddy (I've always said this) and has to understand how and why things work.  He's amazing to watch when he's studying or concentrating so hard on something.  His coordination is unreal!  He enjoys sticking strings into the teeny tiniest holes on his toys and he does it with no problem at all.  Tyke loves his pickup truck and climbs in and out of it probably a hundred times a day!  He likes to load his puppy Douglas in the bed of the truck and then climb and move the steering wheel back and forth like he's driving.  He's also started climbing in the back of his truck himself and standing up to look over the roof.  He thinks that's pretty funny (I don't, gives me a heart attack!) until he tries to get out, then he gets stuck and has to cry for help.

Tyke loves being outside!  There are two places he heads for first when the doors open: either his sandbox or his truck that Nana gave him.  He loves that thing and is just starting to learn how to power it himself.  He still can't steer his motorized toys very well but he can definitely make them go.  Tyke loves his sandbox as well.  He can climb in it all by himself now and has a great time throwing sand out onto the grass.  I'm surprised there's still any left in the box.  His latest trick to throw out sand faster is to load up the mini sand bucket and dump that out.  It works way better than just doing it a shovel full at a time!  Tyke has also found the joys of playing in the water.  We haven't let him play in it too much yet but he sure loves playing with the hose after Daddy has water the garden or the plants.  He can't figure out why the water won't come out and bangs and shakes the end of the hose until a little trickle comes.  He's just so much fun to watch!

Our little guy has got quite the personality.  He's serious a lot but he loves to be a little jokester.  If something makes us laugh he will smile or giggle in response and do it again.  He really likes to bonk his head on the walls at night when we're trying to put him to sleep.  He hits the wall so hard, on purpose, that I'm really surprised there are no holes in it yet.  As soon as he bumps his head he sits up, rubs his head with his little hands, look at us a laugh before doing it again, and again and again!  He eventually stops but it takes a lot of coaxing.  His poor little forehead always has a bruise on it from his game.

Tyke likes to eat treats like a puppy dog.  He always has to have two and most of the time he sits them down on the ground or a chair so that he can eat them like a puppy, without hands.  He thinks he's pretty clever like that.  Sometimes when eating regular meals he does the same thing.  He's starting to use his hands more when eating at the dinner table.  A month ago he couldn't stand to have his hands dirty with food and now he uses them to shovel the food in because sometimes the spoon just doesn't cut it!  Tyke REALLY likes to eat chips of any kind.  If there are a bag of chips in site he will motion for them while making a grunting sounds that reminds me a lot of a monkey saying "oooh oooh oooh!"  Of course he always gets his way.  He does really well with the chips and it's fun to watch him nibble off a little piece at a time with his chompers.  Tyke loves waffles too and has one almost every weekday morning along with his bottle before heading to the babysitters.  As soon as he steps in the kitchen and sees the toaster he goes crazy wanting his waffle!  Whenever he wants anything lately, food or to be held or a toy, he throws his arms in air and makes grabbing motions with both hands while grunting like a monkey.  It's cute and makes us laugh!

Tykee is just growing up way too fast and he's too smart for his own good!  He loves to help out with anything we ask him to do.  Chad has him trained to move laundry to and from the laundry room.   He likes to play with the vacuum and broom.  He loves to help in the garden, a little too much.  He rubs my back when I ask him too (it helps with the pregnant nausea).  He tries so hard to dress himself by putting shirts on his head and shoes on his feet.  He's not even close to mastering dressing himself but he really does try so hard.  He can identify his ears, nose, belly button and piggies (toes) without hesitation, we're still working on the rest.  He finally shakes his head yes and by doing so he can now answer a lot of our questions with a yes or no which is nice.  And added to his vocabulary are the words: love you and all gone.  We're always trying to get him to repeat us and he almost always tries too but it doesn't pan out, yet.

Tyke still only has seven teeth, five on top and two on bottom.  He's wearing size 18 month clothing and they're starting to fit a little snug (time to go shopping, yay!).  He's now in a size 5 1/2 shoe but getting ready to move onto a bigger size.  He's still in a size 4 diaper and we think he will be for a while longer.  Speaking of, if you leave the boy undressed, in a diaper only, he will now try to take it off.  He's been successful a time or two so we have to watch him close!  He's getting to be a tall, skinny boy and he is just so full of life!

We love our little Roni-man to the moon and back and we can't wait to see what new things he learns in the next month!
