Doc x 2

After our first night home as a family (which went great by the way) we were up and headed back to Payson first thing the next morning.  Tyke had an appointment with Dr. Peterson (Dr. Fullmer wasn't scheduled to work this weekend) to have his billiribbon levels checked again.  Our appointment was at 10 a.m. and Dr. Peterson checked Tyke over really well and then sent his nurse in to collect blood for the test.

Tyke didn't like having his foot poked at all.  Poor little thing had already been poked a few times while in the hospital so it was nice and bruised to begin with.  It didn't take long for the nurse to collect what she needed.  She let us know that they would run the test and then call to let us know what the next step would be.

Around 2 p.m. that afternoon the doctors office called to let us know that Tyke's billi level was still too high (13.1).  Not high enough to be in the danger zone but high enough that we got scheduled to go back the next day for another blood test.  Poor Tyke!

We weren't told to do so, but we stripped our baby boy down to his diaper and layed him in the sun for a while to see if that wouldn't help a little bit.  I think he enjoyed the heat because he slept the entire time.  (I know baby's sleep a lot but our little guy is always wide awake checking things out)
Tyke's first doctors visit, 4 days old
Sunday morning we headed back up to the doctors office.  This go around Dr. Peterson just simply took us back to a room and let us know the nurse would be in shortly.  We had a different nurse that was much more gentle with Tyke's little foot than the nurse the day before had been.  But by being gentle it took at least double the time to collect the blood.  That was okay with us because it didn't seem to bother Tyke at all.  He cried when she poked him but was tough the rest of the time and just looked around while she squoze his leg and foot to get the blood.  The nurse told us she would call later in the day with the results.
Headed for round 2 =(
Tyke's second doctors visit, 5 days old

She called around 4 p.m. to let us know that Tyke's billi number had dropped to 10.3 and that because he was a whole 24 hours older it evened it out that he was now in the safe zone.  That meant we didn't have to take our little guy back to be poked again.  Yay!!!!  We were excited and relieved and I'm sure Tykers was too!
