7 Months Old

Lukey-Duke is 7 months old today!  The past seven months have passed by way too fast for me.  Luke is growing big and strong and is the happiest little guy ever!  We love his sweet little self!

Luke is learning new things all of the time.  It's so fun to watch his eyes light up when he figures out something new.  He has found his fingers and toes and likes to play with them.  He can wave, but not really on demand just yet.  On 4-7-15 he was lying on the bed while I was folding laundry.  As usual he was wiggling and squealing like crazy.  All of a sudden he got quiet and I looked at him to see him staring at his hand, concentrating really hard and slowly closing and opening his fingers.  After about thirty seconds he got excited and went back to squealing and wiggling.  He's done this quite a few times since.  There was even one day (I believe it was on my birthday, so 4-29-15) that I waved bye-bye to him when dropping him off at Grandma Cheryl's before work and he waved back!  Totally made my day!  Luke has also found his feet and toes.  On 4-14-15 while at cousin Tristan's house (Chad and Tyke got haircuts) we stuck Luke in their bumbo chair and he LOVED IT!  I'm half tempted to get him one of his own but I know he'll out grow it way too fast to justify getting one.  Anyway, while sitting in that chair he noticed his cute, chubby little feet and kept grabbing at his toes.  He thought they were pretty cool and it kept him entertained for a good ten minutes.  The past few days he's been pulling those chubby toes up and into his mouth and eating on them.  It's pretty much the most adorable thing ever!  On 4-17-15 I noticed for the first time that Luke was making a kissing sound!  When I made the sound back at him he thought it was hilarious and giggled like crazy.  Since then I haven't really noticed him making that kissing noise but he pulls his upper lip in and sucks on it, sometimes making a kissing sound.

Luke is getting more and more mobile!  He can roll onto his stomach and then his little feet and legs kick like crazy to scoot him to the nearest toys.  He hasn't been able to cover too much area yet but he will be in no time, I'm sure!  Luke has rolled from his belly to his back only once, that I know of, since he was a month old.  I was telling Chad how I was a little bit concerned about this and before I could finish my sentence he rolled over, shutting me up (4-23-15).  Kids have a way of doing that to me.  Little guy has been seen more than once trying to get into crawling position.  He will literally dig his head into the floor and push up with his toes, making a tee pee shape and then push forward.  It's a wonder he doesn't have rug burns on his head.

Luke can kick.  He loves to kick.   He's always kicking his little legs like crazy!  Even in his sleep he will kick his right leg really hard, thumping the bed in a little rhythm.  Luke kicks when he's happy, when he's sad, when he sleeps, and when he eats.  The boy is wild!  The other day while Grandma Cheryl was feeding him baby food he kicked the container right out of her hand!  He's our little Thumper!

Luke is starting to get good at sitting up on his own.  He still needs a lot of assistance but his core is definitely getting stronger.  If our little guy had his way he would sit up all day long, he loves it!  He gets so mad/frustrated when he gets layed down.  It makes me feel bad but we can't hold him 24/7.  I wish we could but it's just not possible.

To say he's spoiled would be an understatement.  He loves attention, he loves being  held, and he loves to snuggle!  This kid is the sweetest little snuggler ever.  The way he digs into my chest while holding my shirt or a handful of hair melts my heart.  When he gets tired and fussy all it takes is a good snuggle, his binky and a minky blanket thrown over his face.  Speaking of binky's we finally convinced him to get rid of the big blue-green hospital ones.  We tried a few different models and he refused to take them but the good 'ol Easter Bunny brought him some new ones that he thinks are pretty cool.  He likes to play with them and pull them in and out of his mouth, throw them on the floors, and stick them on his thumbs.  The best part is that these new binky's actually stay in his mouth for longer than two seconds!  With the old ones they would pop out as quick as we popped them in.  We were constantly having to hold them in for him.

Luke eats like a champ!  He LOVES baby food!  He'll eat any flavor except for peas, peas make him gag so hard he almost bonks his head on the highchair tray.  We are currently feeding Mr. Lu THREE stage 2 baby food containers a day!  And bottles on top of that.  I'm still nursing and pumping and doing what I can but I'm almost to the point of not being able to keep up.  He's tolerated a couple of formula bottles.  He has started to show less interest in nursing here and there.  There have been a few times when he's pulled away and looked at me with a confused, disgusted look on his face and then refused to eat.  Tyke did this to me too at ten months old and that is when we officially quit nursing.  I'll just keep going with the flow with this little guy!  It's bittersweet to think that this nursing stage might be almost over.  Other than the boring milk and baby food Luke has also gotten a taste of pudding, both chocolate and vanilla, and loved it!  Tyke gave him his first taste of a greasy scone from One Man Band (4-15-15).  Sneaky Tyke is always so willing to share with his baby brother, I need to pay better attention.  We have been introducing Luke to water.  Dr. Fullmer said he can have 1-2 ounces with each serving of baby food.  Luke hates it!  If it's in a bottle that is.  He will literally gag and refuse to drink it unless it's in a cup.  One day (4-28-15) I offered him a drink of my water and he excitedly grabbed the cup and drank away.  I was shocked!  He hardly spilled and he drank a few gulps before looking up at me and smiling.  So we don't bother using the bottle for water anymore, just give him his own cup and he's  happy as can be.

Luke is a happy little guy.  His smile lights up his whole face.  He's usually pretty content to play by himself or be snuggled.  He does have a bit of a temper, especially when Tyke is around or things don't go his way.  The last couple of weeks it seems that Tyke bugs Luke bad.  His whole body tenses up and he squeals, not a happy squeal but an annoyed squeal.  Tyke thinks it's funny and feeds off of it and then ends up in trouble.  Luke gets super mad when he can't have Tyke's toys, the iPad or our phones.  He will throw the biggest fit ever, tears and all, and his entire body shakes.  As soon as we give in and hand him whatever it is that he wants he immediately stops and smiles a big smile and plays.  He's a little stinker!  Luke loves his Uncle Cody and Uncle Chris.  With Uncle Cody he will just sit and smile and giggle at him for no reason at all.  With Uncle Chris he leans his head in slowly and then WHAM! head butts him and smiles, repeatedly.

Luke is growing so big so fast.  I feel like maybe things have slowed down a little bit and we're able to actually use clothes more than a couple of times.  Luke is still in size 3 diapers but they're starting to get snug.  I joke that in no time I'll have two boys in size 5's the rate he's growing! (Hopefully Tyke will be potty trained by then...)  Luke wears size 9-12 month clothing now.  There are still a couple of things that are 6 month size that fit him but not many.  And shoe size, I have no clue because we don't really do baby shoes around here.  I can tell you though that his feet are long and chubby.  This kid has got wrinkles and dimples allover and I love it!  His hair is really starting to come in.  I can't decide what color it's going to be.  It's fairly dark and wild but sometimes it looks blonde.  His eyes still haven't made up their mind of what color they'll be.  Their blue, green and brown right now.  They're dark and pretty.  His skin color is a perfect tan.  He's just a handsome boy! (Really I want to say he's a pretty baby but that's a no no with boys, right?)

We sure love our Bay-Lu!  He's a fun little guy and keeps us on our toes.  Happy seven months big guy!  We love you tons!
