Weekend Getaway!

We had a much needed mini vacation this weekend.  Jenny and Cody invited us to go to St. George with them to watch Teagen play baseball!  Cody's parents have a summer home in Washington so it didn't really cost us much to get away for a couple of days.

We left around 2 p.m. on Friday.  We had to make three stops along the way for our grumpy boys.  Luke was sick of his car seat and I'm sure Tyke was too!  I sat in the back with the boys for a little while which seemed to help them both calm down.  Chad started getting tired so we swapped places and I drove the rest of the way to St. George while he sat in the back entertaining the kiddos.  Really the boys did quite well, we mainly had to stop to stretch and for Luke to eat.  Road trips with little ones definitely take more time.  Luke had his first taste of sweet potatoes on the drive down.  When Chad sat in the backseat he fed him.  Luke downed the entire container and was totally content with it.  That night however he was miserable.  His stomach was so tight and he just scrame and scrame.  Nothing we tried worked to calm him down.  I finally layed him on his belly one last time and that knocked some gas out and he calmed down after that.  When we got to the house no one was home, they were still at ball games, so we broke in.  They boys loved being out of their car seats!  We layed Luke on the floor to stretch and Tyke immediately got down by him and they started wrestling.  It was pretty cute to watch!  Luke started getting pretty aggressive, he was hungry, and was really growling and grabbing at Tyke.  Tyke thought it was hilarious, and it was!

Saturday we were all up bright and early to go watch Teagen play ball!  It was so much fun getting to watch him play.  He is seriously so good!  Tyke had fun running around with Quade and making new friends with a group of kids that were blowing bubbles.  He thought that was pretty funny.  Luke did really well and loved checking out his new surroundings.  He slept quite a bit too.  The weather was absolutely perfect!!  Teagen's team won their first game but lost the second, knocking them out of the tournament.  After the games we ventured around town for a while and then went back to the house to rest and freshen up.

For lunch we headed back into town for some pizza at Pizza Pie Cafe (yay they have gluten free and it's yummy!).  Tyke had quite the appetite for pizza and ate 2 1/2 slices plus three or so of a cinnamon sugar dessert pizza.  He was an ooey gooey mess by the time he was done but he loved it.  We did a little shopping at the mall afterwards, and then went to the outlets for about ten minutes.  The outlets were a huge disappointment!  We went back to the house while Jenny and Cody and fam went to Dixie rock.  We did a little swimming at the community pool.  Both boys loved it!  Tyke wore a life jacket thing that wrapped around his arms and chest.  He was very timid at first and clung onto us so tight but by the time we were done swimming our little guy was floating by himself, doggy paddling, in the five foot water!  We taught him how to doggy paddle, kick his legs, float, and blow bubbles in the water.  He did awesome at them all!  I just know that he is going to be a pro at swim lessons when he's old enough to go!  Tyke is a natural little fish!  Luke enjoyed the water too.  He didn't get as excited about it as I thought he would.  He loves splashing in the water during bath time.  In the pool he just held still and looked at us annoyed.  Eventually he started kicking up a storm and had fun.  After twenty or so minutes we got him out and Aunt Jenny took him and spoiled him while Chad and I worked with Tyke.  It was a lot of fun for all of us!  Later that night we settled in and watched movies and ate popcorn.  It was cozy and fun.  Tyke and Luke loved all of the attention they got from  their cousins.

We woke up early the next morning and got the car packed to head home.  Chad works graveyards now on Sunday nights so we wanted to get home plenty early so he could rest and get ready for work.  Tyke downed two big slices of french toast for breakfast!  The kid had a major appetite this weekend!  After breakfast he and Teagen and Quade got into a huge wrestling match and he loved every second of it!  Luke enjoyed snuggles from Aunt Jenny while watching the chaos of the wrestling match.  We finally loaded up and headed home around 10:30 or so.  Both boys fell asleep quickly and we were able to drive straight home with only one pit stop!  It was so nice!

It was such a fun weekend and we're so glad we were able to go!  We really debated on going or not but I'm glad that we did.  We love getting to watch our nieces and nephews at their sports/dancing, etc.  We're very proud of them all!  Tyke and Luke have some great role models to look up to in their cousins!
