Holy cow! Time seriously needs to slow down, like now! My little Lukey-Duke is 5 months old today! 5 months! Almost half a year old already. I swear we just had him like yesterday. It scares me how fast the time is going. We love this happy, chubby little baby boy so much!
Luke thinks he's so big lately and just wants to sit up. He HATES laying down and he HATES being held like a baby. Sad. When we put him in his car seat he immediately lifts his head and grunts so hard to try and sit up. It's pretty darn cute to watch! Probably 80% of the time if Luke is being fussy it's because he needs to be sat up. As soon as you put him in sitting position he calms right down. He's a spoiled boy and doesn't like to be propped up in his boppy or with pillows, no, he has to be held, seated, looking forward. When he gets fussy because he's been layed down we simply grab onto his hands and he lifts himself up into sitting position, sometimes into standing position too. He's just getting too big!
Luke has been trying really hard the last couple of days to roll over from his back to his belly. He makes it to his side with no problem and seems to be comfortable lying that way. All it's going to take is one more little push from him to get him rolled over. He hasn't rolled over for months now (he could roll from belly to back at 1 month old) and had me a little worried. I voiced my concern about it to Chad only six days ago and that night he started rolling onto his side. It's some sort of conspiracy I think.
Our little guy spooks very easily. Chad has too much fun with it too. You can be having a conversation with Luke and if you raise your voice or move too sudden it makes him jump and his eyes go big and scared. Sometimes he'll even pucker up and cry. He sure can stick that bottom lip out far when he wants to and it is cute! I'll admit, it is a little funny, poor kid.
Lu has been pretty consistent with sucking on his left index finger lately. He's always chewing or sucking on that thing! It's not very often that we see him with a thumb in his mouth. He definitely prefers his finger instead. He also loves his binky but he still has a hard time keeping it in his mouth. It's constantly falling out and making him mad. It would be nice if it would just stay in, for all of us. Luke also like to chew on us. If he holds our hand he chews on a finger. If we hold him in the right position for him he'll bend over and suck on our arm. He's a silly boy like that!
Luke's little personality is just so sweet! He's the happiest little guy. He smiles very easily. He loves watching Tyke and just studies and grins at everything big brother does. Tyke is starting to be a little more wild that I'd like him to be with Luke. Poor Luke, gets tugged on and layed on all the time lately. He also gets apologized to by Tyke a lot. Luke never complains about Tyke's rough housing and just grins and coos. Luke has really found his voice lately and tells some pretty interesting stories. He has a very sweet, quiet voice. In the middle of the night though he gets a little more high pitched and demanding when he needs to be fed. He talks quite a bit but is quiet a lot too.
Lukey-Duke has really gotten good at using his hands and grabs nearly anything he can now. He likes to grab onto my hair or shirt whenever I pick him up. It's almost like he's holding on for dear life. He always has a fist full of my shirt when I feed him. He LOVES to grab onto and play with his little crinkle book. He goes crazy with that thing! He likes to grab his Daddy's nose and grins the biggest grin. Luke helps out a lot when getting dressed. Without fail, every time I put his shirts on, trying to put his arms in, he immediately turns his head into the material and tries to shove it into his mouth.
Luke LOVES his bath time and LOVES to kick his chubby little legs like crazy to splash his big brother! We've been bathing the boys together lately and they both seem to enjoy it. Tyke gets a little wild and gets in trouble constantly because we don't want him splashing Luke too bad. Well in return Luke gets wild and his little legs kick a hundred miles per hour, splashing Tyke. He doesn't get in trouble, we just laugh about it. Once we get Tyke out of the tub we take Luke out of his seat and hold him carefully while he lays back and kicks. He loves it and hates to get out. Bath time is definitely an adventure with our boys.
Luke is STILL eating every two hours for me! It is exhausting! He goes longer between meals for Grandma Cheryl (his babysitter while we work) but stays on the same clockwork schedule for me. He has only slept through the night maybe four times max. He grunts and kicks and pants and squeals to get my attention. If that doesn't work then he cries and wakes us all up. Bottle wise, Luke is downing anywhere from three to five ounces of milk. Now that he's five months old we get to start introducing baby food to his diet! We're excited to see what he does and doesn't like!
Lu-Lu is growing big and strong! He's a round little thing but he's starting to thin out a little because of his height. This boy is wearing 6-9 month clothing now! The 9 month size seems to fit more comfortably. I need to get out the rest of the 9 month clothes so he can wear them before it's too late. Little guy has grown so fast that there are literally piles and piles of clothes that he never even got to wear. It's sad. Luke is still in size 2 diapers but I've been debating if it's time to move onto size 3's or not. He seems to have a lot of blowouts lately and has ruined quite a few clothes. I'm not sure if it's the size of the diaper or the brand. Either way though we're getting tired of all of the poopy clothes! Luke's hair is starting to come in really good. His little head is fuzzy! It looks like he might have dark hair. He's starting to get a small bald spot on the back of his head too. He's just too cute no matter what!
We're so proud of our little Luke and all of the fun little things that he can do! We love this boy so much! It's hard to believe he's only been with us for a short five months when it feels like it's been forever! At the same time it's hard to believe he's five months old already. He's such a handsome, happy boy and we love him to the moon and back! We're ready to see what new things he learns in the next month. Happy 5 months baby boy!
