22 Months Old

Roni man is a month older and wiser too!  I can't believe our little guy is 22 months old now!  Time has seriously got to slow down.  Tyke just keeps getting more and more fun every day.  I have loved being home with him with my maternity leave and we have really had a lot of fun.  My only concern is that he has become a bit clingy with me and I worry how things will be once I go back to work.  I love our daily routines of waking up, getting him some chocolate milk and toons, and snuggling either in bed or on the couch for a good hour.  It's perfect!

Tyke's little personality continues to develop and man is it getting good!  He's a sassy little smarty pants and keeps us on our toes.  He's constantly asking us the question: "Why?!" with the biggest grin on his face like he has a plan to annoy us with this question.  He's a curious little guy and eager to learn.  I can't believe how smart he is!  He has been working so hard on his ABC's and can sing them to the letter "F".  Anytime he recognizes letters on the sides of buildings or on signs or TV he gets excited and points them out to us by singing his version of ABC's.  He seriously amazes us!  He can also count to four, identify colors (purple and yellow are his favorites but he can also identify red and blue), and he knows quite a few of his shapes (crescent although he calls it moon, star, heart, triangle, circle, rectangle and oval).  I'm especially impressed that he knows what an oval is.  He has really started to show an interest in books again and his favorites are the ones where he needs to search for objects, even though he doesn't search for them, he just points out the things/people that he recognizes, and he loves his Jake and the Neverland Pirates book with the flip up tabs.  This is the book where he's learned his shapes and colors.  He keeps it opened to the shapes page and is constantly begging to be quizzed.  We'll ask him where a certain shape is and he'll flip right to it and repeat us.  This kid is genious!

Tyke is still easing into the "terrible two's" mode.  He's really a great kid but he has got a temper on him!  You can totally tell when it's nap time for our little man because he turns grumpy and mean.  This usually happens around 11:30 a.m. and anywhere between 4 and 6 p.m.  Each time he starts with the attitude I tell him that it's time to go to his room and rest.  Without having to take him in there myself, he ducks his head and runs to his room.  I usually wait about ten minutes before going and checking on him and each time he has been found on his bed, fast asleep with either a book, a football or a stuffed animal.  It's adorable and I'm impressed and proud that he minds so well.  If only he would do the same at bedtime...when we ask him to go to bed he goes to ours!

Tyke has been the best big brother for Luke, just like we knew he would be!  He's adorable with him and so careful.  He has only tried to pick Luke up once which is surprising considering how much he loves to hold his little brother.  Tyke thinks it's the coolest thing in the world when he gets to hold Luke!  He grins from ear to ear and smothers Luke in kisses.  Every morning when Tyke wakes up he asks for three things: milk, tunes, and "Lu Lu" so he can give him kisses.  That's right, Luke has a couple of fun nicknames courtesy of Tyke.  Tyke calls him Baa-Lu! (Baby Luke) and Lu Lu!  Tyke will make 3-4 kissing actions signaling me to let him give Luke a kiss.  As soon as he's done he repeats the 3-4 kissing actions and then points to me and then Luke's head, signaling for me to give Luke a kiss.  He makes sure that Luke is well taken care of!  If Luke makes a peep Tyke is immediately getting after me, "Mom! Lu Lu!" and if I don't come running right then then I'm in trouble with big brother.  We love watching our boys bond and I just know that they are going to be the best of friends, they already are!

Tyke is learning new words everyday!  He communicates so well that it's hard to believe he's not even two yet.  He knows what he wants and we usually only have to guess two or three times, if even that, before getting it right.  A few of my favorite words right now out Tyke's little mouth are: Pita pita (pizza pizza, like off of the Little Ceasars commercials) and he tries to say it as fast and as many times as possible while the commercials are running, Ta-cleeeeezeeee!!!! (Macaroni and cheese) and Nooooo! and Why?!

Tyke is obsessed with books, trucks, trains and football!  He's getting really good at kicking a football and he can finally catch one as well.  He loves watching the game on TV, snuggled up in his Daddy's lap.  When commercials come on he gets angry, thinking that we've changed the channel on him.  It's pretty hilarious.

Tyke is now in 24 month/2T clothing.  We just bought him a new pair of size 8 shoes!!  They're a little big for now but the size 7's were too small.  He's still in size 5 diapers.  Our little man is growing like a weed!  Tyke has one new tooth, his upper left canine, that I just noticed today!  So he officially has 13 teeth now (that we're aware of).

We sure love our fun, energetic, little Tyke!
