Deer Hunt 2015

Well the deer hunt has come and gone and unfortunately we didn't end up with a single one.  Both Chad and I had general season Oak Creek deer tags.  With our tags we were able to hunt around the Oak Creek mountains, where the HUGE bucks live, but only on BLM property.  It was kind of a pain to keep track of where we were and if we could or couldn't shoot.  Most everything was private and if it wasn't then it was the "limited" area and we couldn't hunt there anyway.

We (us and Uncle Chris and fam) camped over the weekend, from Friday morning to Monday afternoon, down near the Cove Fort area.  It was so dry and dusty that our vehicles and trailers were completely brown by the time we set up camp. We never saw a single sign of deer in the area the entire time we were there!  It rained on us like crazy on Saturday and Sunday and we had fun time staying in the trailers watching movies and listening to the rain hit the roof.  We played in the mud but not too much.  The boys loved riding the rhino, what little bit they got to do.  It was a cold weekend but a fun one too!

On Tuesday morning we dropped the boys off at Grandma Cheryl's early and Chad and I headed south to hunt.  We drove all morning and afternoon and still never saw a sign of deer.  It was depressing!  We decided then that there was no point in wasting our time and money to hunt on our unit so we quit.  Chad spent the rest of the week tagging along with Bampa and Aunt Tiffy on their Nebo unit.  They too had no luck this year.

We all went hunting with Bampa and Aunt Tiffy on Saturday night and the boys loved it!  Tyke brought along his toy rifle and was shooting deer left and right (he has a great imagination!).  We saw two coyotes and tried to get them but missed.  Luke loved riding the "viking" and was all smiles and wiggles the entire time.  We finished off the night with dinner at Subway.

And that folks, was our 2015 deer hunt!  Here's hoping that next year will be more successful, if we even draw any tags that is.
