28 Months Old
Sometimes I feel like time is going so fast that I can't keep up with this blog. My Lu is another month older, already! Time seriously needs to slow down! Luke is 28 months old now, almost a year an a half, and is growing and changing so much. He is getting to be so much fun with his wild, sassy, comical little personality. I just love this stage he's in and the teasing that he does. He really is a funny kid and we are convinced that he will some day be nominated the class clown.
Terrible two's for Luke have been hard for all of us. We're still rolling with the punches but man can this kid throw a fit if he doesn't get his own way. Luke is very stubborn and very opinionated and what he wants he wants now. If that doesn't happen for him then he kicks his boots off at us, drops to the floor and screams a mighty fit. Most of the time we try to just laugh it off and deal because it seems to happen so much but sometimes it really irritates us and Luke gets in trouble, which does no good for anyone because it makes the fit intensify. Pretty much Luke wins, always. He's way more stubborn than the adults raising him ha ha.
Louie is Daddy and Bampa Terry's biggest fan. He follows them around like their own shadows do. He thinks they're the greatest and doesn't like to share, at all. Poor Tyke is always getting shoved out so Luke can snuggle Daddy or sit on Bampa's lap. He's a character!
Luke LOVES bath time, especially with bubbles. The problem with bubble baths though is Luke likes to eat them and drink the water, both gross. He thinks it's great, Mommy doesn't. Luke likes bathing and showering with big brother and they have a grand time making water messes for us to clean up.
Luke shows zero interest in potty training. We talk to him about it daily but he doesn't want to go. He will pee in the toilet before bath time almost every night but that's it. I fear he might be harder than Tyke was but we're just going with the flow for now. We'll talk it up and hopefully someday he'll care to listen.
Luke is a fan of cereal, with milk, now! It has been so nice to be able to pour him a bowl of cereal for breakfasts. He loves it! It's only slightly messy for him but does pretty good. Luke loves food and tries everything at least twice. He is starting to like "dipper" for his chicken nuggets and meats. Luke is a HUGE meat eater! It is by far his favorite food. It doesn't matter what kind of meat it is, he can never get enough. I think maybe his favorite meal is bratwurst, corn on the cob and cottage cheese. He devours it, sometimes even eating two brats! It's amazing to see a two year old eat such a manly meal like that. Way to go Bubba!!
Luke is completely out of size 2T clothes which is no surprise with the way he is eating and growing. Some 3T clothing is even starting to fit a little snug. Lu is still in a size 6 diaper and will be until the day he decides to be a big boy. We bought him pull ups but they were only cool for like a day and even then he still peed in them and not the toilet. Some day.... I'm not sure what size of shoe Luke is. Is that bad? He wear hand me down cowboy boots that are a size 10 1/2 which I know are way too big but he loves them and refuses to wear gym shoes and I'm not too keen on the idea of buying new boots, they're expensive!!
And that concludes Luke's monthly update. We love our big brown eyed boy so much, temper tantrums, teasing and all. He is honestly a little sweetheart, and a monster, and a jokester, and just plain fun. Happy 28 months Bubba!

Slave
Last night was one of those rare occasions where I was ready to go to bed by nine. I'm a late owl all the way so this was unheard of. The boys were wide awake, thanks to late naps, and I had the kitchen left to clean from dinner time. It bothered me but at the same time I just didn't care! The boys got sent to bed, haha (we ALWAYS have to go into their rooms with them and sit until they fall asleep otherwise it's chaos) but they snuck the iPad in with them and played that instead.
I layed down on my bed and couldn't get up. Chad got ready for bed, turned all of the lights off and climbed in as well. He's always in bed and asleep by this time. Anyway, we layed in bed listening to the boys play nicely (which is weird because they constantly fight over who gets the iPad) and sing along to the ABC's on the app they were playing. We decided that rather than going in and standing guard we would just wait and see if they would go to sleep by their-selves. Of course they didn't and after about ten minutes the iPad battery died and the boys realized that we were m.i.a. and came looking for us.
The house was dark and we could hear them running around in a panic looking for us. Luke started to cry. I felt bad but we decided to just wait and see... They finally came running into our room calling our names. We pretended to be asleep, rude, I know. Sometimes it's just fun to do so and listen to what their little minds come up with. Tyke and Luke climbed in bed with us and tried poking us in the eyes to see if we were awake. We finally caved and told them to go ahead and lay down and go to sleep. In my mind I thought to myself that the dishes could wait until tomorrow. We layed quietly for a few minutes, well except for Luke because he doesn't do that, and then Tyke blurted out: "Mom, go clean up the mess we made!" Chad and I busted out laughing and couldn't stop. I couldn't imagine what mess Tyke was talking about because it hadn't sounded like they dumped toys out or anything. Chad must have thought the same thing because he asked Tyke, "what mess?" and Tyke responded with, "The one where we ate!" meaning, dinner dishes hadn't been cleaned up. Tyke then proceeded to climb over his dad, snuggled up next to me and tooted! I immediately jumped up out of bed while the boys all giggled, and went and cleaned the kitchen. So much for an early night huh?!

Slow Down!
My handsome lil Tyke is so worried about growing up and growing big. I hate it! I want him to stay little and he knows it. I seriously wish I could freeze time right now and keep my boys how they are at this stage in life! Anyway, Tyke LOVES to tease me about him growing older and bigger all of the time. This mornings conversation on the way to Grandma Cheryl's house went like this:
Tyke: "Mom, I detting bigger and bigger!"
Me: "I know Tyke, knock it off! I don't like it!"
Tyke: "I four years old mom! Den I going to be five and den I going to be six..."
Me: "Stop it Tyke! Stop growing up so fast! Stop getting so big!"
Tyke: "I tant mom! I already four now!"
Time, please slow down!

4 Year Old Pics
How handsome is he?! My baby boy is four years old today and with happy tears in my eyes I snapped a few pictures of him before his big party. He is so smart and kind and funny and brings so much joy to our family. We love you so much Roni-man and hope you have had the best birthday today!
4 Years Old!
I can't believe that the boy who made me a mom and daddy a dad turns four years old today! It has been the best four years of our lives and we have enjoyed every minute of it! I do wish that time would slow down, like a lot! Parenthood is so bittersweet! I love watching my Roni-man grow and learn and thrive but I hate it at the same time. I want to freeze time and keep him little. He's the best little boy ever! He's a sweetheart with a huge heart. He loves to give "wuvs" and "nuggle" and has to always be touching us. He gives the best hugs and kisses. He is my best helper around the house and with little brother. He loves to work hard, like his daddy. He enjoys chores and the gets excited to be trusted with them. Tyke is the best big brother Luke could ask for. Tyke is always watching out for Bubba and taking care of him and calming him down in his fits of rage. Tyke and Luke get along awesome! They of course fight from time to time but for the most part they get along awesome and are the best of friends! Tyke's concern and love for his brother melts my heart.

Awesome!
On the drive to Grandma Cheryl's house this morning Tyke was a chatter box! He talked up a storm about all sorts of things that I can't remember but my favorite was when he said, "Mom? Girls are pretty and boys are AWESOME!" I don't know where he gets this stuff from but it sure is great!
