Slave

Last night was one of those rare occasions where I was ready to go to bed by nine.  I'm a late owl all the way so this was unheard of.  The boys were wide awake, thanks to late naps, and I had the kitchen left to clean from dinner time.  It bothered me but at the same time I just didn't care!  The boys got sent to bed, haha (we ALWAYS have to go into their rooms with them and sit until they fall asleep otherwise it's chaos) but they snuck the iPad in with them and played that instead.

I layed down on my bed and couldn't get up.  Chad got ready for bed, turned all of the lights off and climbed in as well.   He's always in bed and asleep by this time.  Anyway, we layed in bed listening to the boys play nicely (which is weird because they constantly fight over who gets the iPad) and sing along to the ABC's on the app they were playing.  We decided that rather than going in and standing guard we would just wait and see if they would go to sleep by their-selves.  Of course they didn't and after about ten minutes the iPad battery died and the boys realized that we were m.i.a. and came looking for us.

The house was dark and we could hear them running around in a panic looking for us.  Luke started to cry.  I felt bad but we decided to just wait and see... They finally came running into our room calling our names.  We pretended to be asleep, rude, I know.  Sometimes it's just fun to do so and listen to what their little minds come up with.  Tyke and Luke climbed in bed with us and tried poking us in the eyes to see if we were awake.  We finally caved and told them to go ahead and lay down and go to sleep.  In my mind I thought to myself that the dishes could wait until tomorrow.  We layed quietly for a few minutes, well except for Luke because he doesn't do that, and then Tyke blurted out: "Mom, go clean up the mess we made!"  Chad and I busted out laughing and couldn't stop.  I couldn't imagine what mess Tyke was talking about because it hadn't sounded like they dumped toys out or anything.  Chad must have thought the same thing because he asked Tyke, "what mess?" and Tyke responded with, "The one where we ate!" meaning, dinner dishes hadn't been cleaned up.  Tyke then proceeded to climb over his dad, snuggled up next to me and tooted!  I immediately jumped up out of bed while the boys all giggled, and went and cleaned the kitchen.  So much for an early night huh?!
