26 Months Old

What can I say about this kiddo?!  He is so wild and full of life he always has mommy and daddy on our toes.  Luke is very independent and into everything!  He is seriously something else!  We love his cute little personality and his energy!

Luke has definitely shown us what the "terrible two's" mean.  He's probably not really that bad but he's way worse than his big brother was at this age at throwing tantrums and being a naughty.  Luke can throw a fit like no other.  He's always been a great fit thrower but the last month or so he has gotten much better, er, worse.  He is like a little time bomb and we have to be careful what we say or do, sometimes we don't even have to do anything at all, to make him.  He throws toys.  He throws himself around.  He screams and cries and there is no stopping it until we figure out what he wants, that is, if he can figure out what he wants.  It's frustrating but comical at the same time.  Poor little guy can't control his grumpy emotions!

Luke has learned a fun (for him) new trick, taking his clothes off!  He can't get his shirts off yet but shoes, socks and pants all come off and he runs around the house giggling because it's so funny.  I'm just waiting for him to figure out how to rip his diaper off too, eek!

Luke has really started to show an interest in potty training.  I'm so not ready for this but he hates to wear yucky diapers anymore.  He immediately tells us whenever he has peed or pooped and in fact insists on peeing in the potty each time we change his diaper.  When changing him he will repeat "pee, pee, pee" and I think he's just telling me that he HAS peed but when I go to put a fresh diaper on he gets mad and cries and kicks and yells "pee, pee, pee!"  So I tell him to pee in the potty and he stops crying, giggles and runs to the bathroom and sure enough, pees in the potty.  This should be interesting!  We've bought a couple of pull-ups and have decided to maybe give it a try...

Luke's obsession with his "b's" (blankets) is starting to get crazy.  He now insists on having all b's at the same time to pack around.  That consists of about five.  We have way more blankets than that but Luke will only use certain ones and they have to be minky.  He's so picky!  Anyway, he packs these things around like crazy and they're starting to become a health hazard because he's constantly injuring himself from tripping on the darn things.  We can't leave home without a "b" or we're in big trouble.  It's kind of comical and sweet and cute how much this boy loves his blankies!

Luke's appetite continues to grow just as he is.  He is always in the pantry!  Always asking for "tweets" (treats) and always begging for "mow mil!" (chocolate milk).  The kid is a bottomless pit!  He is adventurous in his eating habits and willing to try everything and anything that we offer him, or that he finds.  I find empty applesauce pouches around the house almost daily.  He gets them out and big brother opens them for him, thinking he's doing a good deed.  Luke hangs out at the fridge too.  Luckily he can't open it yet but he has nearly destroyed the handles to the fridge and freezer in his many attempts.  Oh Bubba!

Luke loves his drinks!  He will drink pretty much anything.  He is now a huge chocolate milk fan and has a hard time drinking milk plain.  He loves his apple juice and he really loves mommy's diet coke's!  The kid is my competition and if I get pressured into sharing a sip with him he will take it and not give it back.  It's a fight when there is diet coke around, so I think I might have to give that habit up, or else start sneaking around to have one haha.  Luke also begs his daddy every weekend for some coffee.  He throws an absolute fit until Chad gives in.  Although, Luke refuses to drink the black stuff once he's given permission.  I'm not sure if it's the smell or because it's too hot but once he's allowed to get close enough to a coffee cup he changes his mind pretty quickly.

Louie LOVES helping around the house, on his terms haha.  He loves the step stool and carrying it out to the kitchen sink so he can "wash the dishes".  Really all he does is makes a big wet mess and soaks himself and the floor but he has fun and is in a good mood doing it so I guess that's OK?  Luke loves being given "chores" to do.  He thinks it's awesome to help mommy and Tyke take dirty laundry to the laundry room.  He likes being the one to get the chocolate mix out of the pantry for his milk.  He loves to try and vacuum, And he to NOT help pick up toys.  He loves to dump them all out but refuses to help pick them back up.  Poor Tyke cleans up after Luke a lot!

We have found that Luke absolutely hates the snow and we're not sure why.  He hates the feel of it falling on him and he absolutely freaks out at the sight of it!  It's kind of funny but annoying at the same time.  He better get used to the white stuff because winter has just started!

Lu is starting to talk more and more now but we still have a hard time understanding a lot what he says.  For the most part though we've been able to translate his cute little words.

  • "toke" (diet coke)
  • "tweet" (treat)
  • "nug" (chicken nuggets)
  • "chee" (cheese or grilled cheese)
  • "mow-mil" (chocolate milk)
  • "one mow!" (one more!)
  • "Tar-tar" (Char-Char = Charlie, our elf)

We have officially retired the 2t clothing in our home, well, we still have 2t jammies out and being used even though they are too small.  I can not for the life of me find the 3t jammies in our storage.  I guess that means I need to go shopping!  Other than that everything else is the same.  Luke is in 3t/4t shirts, 3t jeans that fit a little too big and too long (but the 2t's were way too small and floods).  I have no clue what shoe size Lu is but he loves his cowboy boots and they still fit good.  They're a size 9 I believe.  Luke is in a size 6 diaper and we have bought size 2t/3t pull-ups to try out with him on our potty training journey.

We love our Bubba Lu so much and are sure enjoying watching him learn and grow.  I wish time would slow down, even just a little.  This phase in Luke's life, even with all of the fits and tantrums, is so much fun to watch and experience.  Our little guy brings so much joy and smiles and laughs to our family!  He is a bit of a clown and we love his fun, wild, spunky little self!
